Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired teacher and amateur genealogist . My interest in family history was piqued by my maternal grandmother who kept scrapbooks of newspaper clippings. Several years ago I learned my paternal grandmother had recorded a history in the 1940's of her grandfather's descendants. I guess collecting and maintaining family records is in my blood.
I like to share what information I have, and internet websites now make it easy to do.
Photography has also been a life-long hobby, so now I enjoy taking pictures to share along with data on .

RE: Chickering-Swain wedding
Hi Ann,

I completely forgot to identify the place! This particular town of Hillsboro is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. The town is officially spelled the same as the county, but is often shortened. I'm pretty sure that the newspaper was the Milford Cabinet, published in Milford, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. The "Clippings" book belonged to Ruth (Atkinson) Emerson. In the front she wrote "My book Ruth Atkinson Emerson, Mother made it"

It belongs to the Historical Society of Amherst New Hampshire and is temporarily at my home while I search through it for helpful family history information.

Glad you liked it and sorry I had a lapse.

Ann, you can do a search by number--just look at the bottom of the "Begin New Search" page and you can enter it where it says, "Memorial #." If you want to search by name, it is Col. John Ware, Union Grove Cemetery, Putnam Co., Illinois. The passage I transcribed is interesting, I think, and even moreso when one realizes Col. John Ware died not long after their trip.

An added note--I was not really aware before now, but I recently read a passage noting that Union Grove Church was a Presbyterian church. That is not surprising, really, but just an interesting piece of info. And, yes, I am ready for Spring! I hope you are where it's warm!

I have added a short excerpt to the above memorial, which you might find interesting.

Wares from Williamstown
And that Williamstown MA connection is why William would go back east to see his family, and pay the legacies for Aunt Hannah.

I used worldcat, typed in William Ware Granville IL and it came right up. Believe it was a Michigan site, but you'll find it.
