From what I understand, most of the McCaslin folks in the US are related to a group of brothers who came over from Ireland/Scotland. Our branch of the family settled in Pennsylvania and to the best of my knowledge are not direct ancestors of those who settled in the midwest such as the W. S. McCaslin you mentioned.
