RE: Sophia Stringer Schuknecht
the death records are available in the Gail Borden library (the Elgin public library), but also are on the internet. go to:

http://www.gailborden.info/elginareamemories/collections/94-elgin-death-records

I would recommend contacting the cemetery, also. most of the records would be duplicate, but the cemetery might have more records and more complete and up to date information. good luck with the search.

RE: Sophia Stringer Schuknecht
unfortunately, i cannot confirm her maiden name as I got it from the Schuknecht tree on Ancestry, something I don't do too often. The dates are from her Elgin city death record. No day or month were listed for her birth and her parents were not listed. Her place of birth was listed looks like Tausardorf, Prussia, Germany; I don't think the spelling is correct. The T is pretty clear, as is the dorf at the end; everything between is questionable. please note there is no gravestone, just her death record entry to go off of. Worse yet, its possible she is not buried in this cemetery. Her death record is from the old Elgin cemetery (can look up Channing Street Cemetery on find a grave). That cemetery is now closed and most of the bodies were moved to Bluff City, but not all. My presumption is that she was moved, and there is a 99% chance that she is ion Bluff City, but not a certainty. Sorry couldn't be more help
