RE: Powell
Hello Charles, I am quite impressed with your quick response! Thank you. I have quite a bit on Daniel and Hannah Shira Powell and finally, I ( with a lot of on-line help) have located and identified Elizabeth Alms Powell's family. The Alms name was out there for quite a while but with out any sources but now there is proof who she was. There are a couple of photos of William Powell and Elizabeth Alms out there too. I am sure you are aware of the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Westmoreland county census records. 1850 states that all in the household are Mulatto. 1860, all are marked White. 1870, all but Elizabeth are marked Mulatto. Never again in any of the future census records are any descendants marked Mulatto. Elizabeth Alms is White and not Mulatto as one of the census takers thought, which throws the whole Mulatto question in question. But it could explain why we are having such a hard time finding William Powell. Even having his photo doesn't help as it could go either way for me...white or mulatto. Thanks for your help.

Rachael Ann Powell Harris
I meant to say I know nothing about Daniel Powells father, William Powell except where he was born.

Rachael Ann Powell Harris
Hello Charles
I see that you maintain Rachael Ann Powell Harris memorial #119164283. I am looking for a Daniel Powell's family. I just recently found out he was born in Latrobe. He was born in 1846. I know about Daniel Powell and his mother Elizabeth Ams but I knw about his father, William Powell. Are you related to the Powell/Harris family?
Thank you

I have transferred her to your care. I'm always glad to get memorials in the hands of family.

RE: Jim Shaffer
I don't actually go through the church lists and one by one look for people. I'm not sure how everyone else does their search, but I actually go through the whole cemetery on foot taking photos. I'm also not sure as to how the lists of people in the cemetery are put on this site, but I spend a lot of time adding people on here as well. I have found several missing headstones at each cemetery I've visited along with broken ones and ones that are just illegible. The cemetery that has me puzzled on here is St. Pius X; it is also on here as Visitation Church Cemetery. I was very visibly in the St. Pius cemetery where I found all of these people that are listed on here in the Visitation Church Cemetery. So I am wondering if there may be a nearby cemetery to where your people would be in that list erroneously? Maybe you've already checked.

You're welcome! Latrobe! I go through Latrobe all the time on my way to Derry to see my sister. I'm from Greensburg but have been living in WV for a while. We may be related distantly. My 3rd great grandmother was Elizabeth Harr married to Peter Noel. Her parents were Frederick and Susannah Shockey Harr.
