It's The Historic Architecture of Halifax County, North Carolina. Henry V. Taves, Allison H. Black and David R. Black; edited by Drucilla H. York and J. Daniel Pezzoni, 2010. Published by the Halifax County Historical Association. Its probably available at the Halifax County Library in Halifax or you may be able to order one from the Halifax County Historical Association. They were $75. If you have some specific churches in mind, I can look at my book to see if they're in it. Will be glad to - just let me know. Have you run into anymore of my relatives? Etheridge, Lewis, Smith, Pittman?

Cindy - You're not the first person to confuse my tag. Yes, I am Ava's grandfather. I leave the flower/whatever with my tag just as I would if I mailed a card or gave a box of candy. It's to let others know who it is from. Perhaps I'm wrong but I always thought that was the way to show my appreciation for someone's existence. I use several different tags depending on the person in the memorial.

Thanks Cindy. Hopefully the Madry Farm Cemetery is out there waiting to be discovered. Frank Drew's sister Maggie Drew is listed as being buried near Hobgood. Their brother my Great Grandfather Charlie Drew just says Halifax County. I was hoping you had the key that would have tied these together somehow. I'll keep plugging. Newsom Tom Tolston you have entered from the Hobgood Cemetery is my Great Great Grandfather on my Mother's side. Thank you so much. I'm in Pitt County near Farmville if there is anything I can ever do for you

On Celia's bio you mention her husband Frank Drew and that he is buried at Madry Farm Cem. Do you have anymore info on him or this cemetery. I see a Madry Cemetery and a J W Madry but I'm not sure if one of these is the one mentioned. Frank was my Great Great Uncle.
Thanks Hardy

Yes, I will gladly manage them. There was actually a 3rd girl but I don't know if she is buried there or if the stone is too worn to see. I lived in Greenville, NC for several years and got married in Hobgood at the church where John and Margret Leggett were married.

Thanks

My error... Working from mobile .. The latter half of the page was off screen when I copied and pasted.. Thought the confusion was the fact there were 2 men, same name one died one lived through the war.

I contacted the one who originally posted the cemetery and they've transferred Friendship FWB to Johnston County, the actual location. That should make it easier for the others to move Martha Tippett. Once done, I will delete mine. Good catch.

James David Etheridge
James David Etheridge was my great grandfather. I see where you have him listed under Nahalah Presbyterian Cemetery. I'm curious as to why you show him in that cemetery when he was buried at Roseneath. The church has fallen down now and some of the grave markers are missing. I'm wondering he or at least the grave marker were moved to Nahalah. Thanks for any info that you can share.

I looked at what you sent me and there might be a way to find out for sure, but you will need to do some leg work.
Because Rose died in 2007, the monument company that put down her tombstone, may have done Tony's also. I would contact the funeral home that buried Rose and see what they can tell you.
Tony was originally buried in Cary - being a newborn, his body would have decomposed very quickly and depending on the type of casket used, it may have decomposed there also, if a vault was not used.
The cemetery in Cary should be able to tell you if Tony body was moved to Weldon because they would have to have a dis-interment record.
If you cannot find anything, to prove it one way or another, then I think I would link him at the Cary cemetery and make a notation on both memorials for him, that you do not know what cemetery his body remains today. I hope this helps. Margaret

Cindy,
Where are his parents buried? I hope in one of these two mentioned cemeteries!! This just drives me crazy when we have to deal with this kind of thing, but life happens ....
Depending on your answer I will let you know.
Thanks so much!!!
