This is the link, let me know if it works. It has all the photos. I even put it on my Kindle, I know, I'm a nerd! Now if I could just find one for Buffalo County....

Pgs 20,22,24,25,and 216 mention the Horsleys. (I have an electronic copy on my computer. I just type in what name or subject I'm looking for, and there it is!

I didn't mean to send the message yet!
I wanted to ask if you have access to the Dunham history of early Jerauld County?
There is an interesting account of a prairie fire on Hudson's father-in-law's homestead.

|happee_grrl||RE: William and Mary Horsley|
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, but I was trying to verify my info.
The earliest I have any Horsleys in Jerauld County is the summer of 1881.
*"During a part of the summer and fall of 1881 Hudson Horsley lived with the family of his father-in-law, Mr. C.W. Hill on the NE of 22 in 108-65. Mr. Horsley had nearly completed a house on the SE of 26, which he had taken for a pre-emption claim in the same township. He had put up a stack of hay and was about ready to take up his abode for the winter on his own land." (This is in Chery township).
*Bramwell and William Horsley also have a homestead each in Chery township, somewhere between 1882-1883.
*Dunham records Orlo Horsley as the first white baby born in Jerauld County.
Also, there is a Cora Horsley receiving a diploma from the Wessington Springs Seminary in 1898.
I digress, however. Since the children of William and Mary you have listed were born (and died) pre-1882, I believe it is safe to assume that they are interred in WI. (LeRoy told me that is where his family lived before coming here.)
Do you have access to

Ida was William's middle child: Eldon Atlee Davis (1908-1995), Edna Emma(Davis)Myers (1910-?), Ida, Glen William Davis (1917-?), Dale Eugene Davis (1919-1920).
Newton was a widower with a young daughter when he married Agnes Luke. Catherine gave birth to Birdie in 1879, William (1880-1880), and twin boys (1881-1881). She died 19 Feb 1882. We assume it may have been due to complications from pregnancy or childbirth, but don't really know. Newton married Agnes 05 Apr 1884. I think he must have been a loving and devoted father based upon a letter I have that he wrote to Aunt Birdie when she was an adult and the enduring love and closeness between great-aunt Birdie and her half-siblings.

Yes, Ida May(Davis)Thomas was James and Lizzie Edna (Passmore) Davis's granddaughter. Since James's younger brother Newton was my great grandfather, Ida would have been my mother's paternal second cousin. Which of Ida's daughters gave you the photos, Gwendolyn Alene (Thomas)Schmidt Lewis, Leota Mae (Thomas) Daughlenbaugh, or Wanda Elaine (Thomas) Provan? They would be my 3rd cousins.

No I am not, just a friend of LeRoy H. But I read the bio of William and Mary and it's quite amazing! I knew the Horsley's has been around quite awhile, but I guess I didn't realize the extent of it.
I love history, and this quiet little town that's just seeping with it. There's a sap born every minute, right? :)

I am curious if and how you are related to the Horsleys around here. (Your username piqued my interest).
I've just added three more to Prospect Hill. (Ken, Beverly & Lee).
I like to link up family memorials as much as possible.

Hi cousin! After checking my genealogy chart, I decided you must be a descendant of my GGrandfather's brother James Davis. I met several of your family members about 12 years ago when I brought my GS troop to Rapid City for a conference and I believe my mother Marjorie 'Marge' Ciambella and my sister attended one of your family reunions several years before that. Thanks for sending the info that allowed me to connect GGF Newton to his parents' Find A Grave pages.

Thanks so much for the photos. It is very nice of you to share. Amazed the newspaper just handed them to you!
If you didn't already know, the cause of that B-52 crash was the fuel pump intake screen froze, starving all 8 engines of fuel on final approach.
