James Roberts & Lucinda Hurst Roberts
Leslie, I am looking for a James Roberts who married a Lucinda Hurst Roberts. I have not been able to locate their graves & I don't know where they died & are buried. I found a James Roberts died 6-11-1889 & is buried in Nebo Cemetery Cumberland County Illinois. I also noticed two Lucinda Roberts buried there also with the same death dates. At first I thought I had located our relatives until I noticed one of the Lucinda's had a different maiden name that our Lucinda Hurst Roberts.

Do you know if there are 2 different Lucinda Roberts buried in Nebo Cmt. Do you know anything about the James Roberts b unk, D 6-11-1889 that is buried there also. Our James & Lucinda was married & had guardianship of her half brother Ezra Hurst who is buried in the Howard cemetery, Hurst Illinois

Our set of Roberts were in Franklin County Illinois around 1883-1900. Lucinda Hurst Roberts was the daughter of my 3 great grandfather John Hurst b 1803 buried in Franklin cemetery at Whittington, Franklin County Ill.

Any information that you can provide will be Greatly appreciated. Alice Hurst

RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 41302842
As far as I know I am not a relative. I just returned from the cemetery. We probed the area where there should be a stone and found none. We did locate a stone close to where his daughter should be buried. Much of the sand stone had flaked off the front. We could only make out "In Memory of ... Daughter of ...(on the next line we could only make out the last two letters) ET". This was a very large stone about 2" under ground.
I took a picture, but you can't see much.

RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 41302842
I removed the son's photo. I could not locate a markers for his father while we were there. On Sept 12, 1977, Robert B. Smith and his son Larry recorded all the grave markers in Morrison Cemetery. Their record show three Cozar markers side by side and right to left:
Jacob, D. 26 Aug. 1834 age 14y 4m
Jacob, D. 05 Jul. 1862 age 80y
Mercy, D. 09 Sep. 1862 age 59y d/o J & S
Now that I know where the son's marker is located, his father's marker should be on one side or the other. The will examine these locations the next time I am there.

RE: Alison Austin
Hi Leslie! How exciting! This is my first contact with anyone from the Yunt line. Makes those old papers come quite alive. I am descended from Mercy and Alison's son Jeremiah Austin, but Alison is such a complicated man I've ended up doing a lot of work on his lines. I know he had at least two wives named Sarah, Sarah Eccles and Sarah Ann Totten, but I haven't found evidence to support the Sarah Yount/Yunt yet. Do you have the military papers where the Yunt children were claiming their rights for Jacob Yunt's service in the Black Hawk War? I have scanned that and would be glad to email it to you if you want to email me directly. My email is finster AT, and I would love to correspond with you.

RE: family photo requests
Hi Leslie,

I looked at your list of photo requests and I see other cemeteries that I can visit.
I have not yet been to Macedonia, but I know where it is. I have over 100 kin in Harmony Cem. I have been to Nebo several times.

I will see what I can do this summer.

Hi Leslie,

You are welcome for the Carpenter family marker photos. I too appreciate the efforts of other volunteers to have located markers of my family members who are quite distant from my home.

John Cox
Regarding his death, I have listed North Carolina as his death place - not Ohio. Additionally, there seems to be some dispute over his death place. That, or 2 individuals have been "merged" into one listing Kentucky & North Carolina as possibilities.
