RE: George Washington Perkins
Hi MD,

No I didn't have any additional information for George except for his son Henry, which I transferred to you.

Call some of the funeral homes in Broken Bow and see if they have information on his burial there. They could possibly tell you the exact location of his grave, if they still have the older records. And they may or may not (probably not) be able to tell you if he has a marker in place, but it won't hurt to ask! I've had good luck doing that very thing.

Good luck!

RE: Gilbert and Maureen again...
Perhaps I misunderstood Maurine's niece a year ago, maybe it was her father she was talking about and not her father's brother in law Gilbert, I knew he was a professional, I just thought maybe in his younger days he had reason to help his parents or some family who owned it and he was just running it or working in it for awhile. Must have been one of the Reedy's and I am mistaken, but I would have sworn she said Gilbert was working in it only briefly for some family, before moving to Portland.

RE: Gilbert and Maureen again...
Thank You so much for the contact. I hesitate to say too much on this public page. I am very curious of your relation to Gilbert, or rather can't help but wonder if we are from the same area or not. I know very little of him other than I have been told recently that some of his family still operates a business or two in the farmlands. Just about ten years ago before my father passed, he pointed out the old gas station still standing that Gilbert once had, he simply said at the time it was an uncle of his, I didn't realize he meant an aunt's husband. I also know now that it was actually his parents gas station that he worked at or operated for a time before he and Rene moved to Portland. My Dad would have only been remembering this from early, early childhood as he never saw any of them as far as I know, except one time years later when Grandma was visiting, he rode along with her one day while I was at school, to visit her brother Garner in about 1978 roughly. We learned much more of Grandma's life when in about 1998 she came back to live here and my sister took her into her home for the last several years, but she had Alzheimer's so sometimes the stories made sense and sometimes not. Their mothers death created some tragic consequences for the small children, too much to tell on this format. Looking forward to hearing from you again. Hopefully your mother may have some info. If I post an email address here, can you delete it from your end so it doesn't stay posted on the public message board? Thanks.PC,

Gilbert and Maureen again...
Sorry, as an afterthought, I should say that Maurine was my Great Aunt by way of her sister Margaret of Bend Oregon. I am seeking any info you may have regarding "Rene" and birth place as I see you noted for the contributor. I find reference of a user submitted entry on the International Genealogy Index of her parent's marriage in Hanibal, MO., so was pleased and intrigued in finding you have a birth for her there as well. My grandmother was born in Eoila, Missouri, their other sister Hazel sited as an Elsberry, MI birth which makes sense as many ancestors where specifically in that town per my research on the Reedy's, McLester's and Garner's prior to migration to Washington State. Have you any info on Hazel's burial place? Please see that I posted a photo of Maurine's Nursing School Graduation portrait I presume, onto her memorial, don't know if you have ever seen it. It is my intention to try and link Maurine and all her siblings to their parents and grandparent's. I am an ancestry.com member as well, but have a private tree as it is still such a mess of information, lol. Hoping perhaps you might have some details I am unaware of. I sense that you are descended of the Thomas line rather than Reedy's, but you just never know who has key information. I appreciate your efforts. PC

Elizabeth Rapp
Bertie Gilbert
Hi;
I saw your family includes the Gilberts and wonder if you know details about Bertie G/C Gilbert who died 27 Feb 1879, son of Jesse B Gilbert and Irena Diantha Watts. His poorly marked gravestone is near gravestones for Diantha Holmes Watts Haley, Zeruah Opp, Harris R Watts, and several Holmes family members in Pine Grove Cemetery near Peoria, Linn County, Oregon. I've been attempting to piece together the family relationships from gravesites 236-244 in the old cemetery. I would appreciate any information you care to share. My husband's grandfather was Stephen Douglas Haley, second husband of Diantha Holmes Watts Haley.

Hi Matt, I added the dates and locations you sent. I chose Marion County because it looks like more of Hannibal is in Marion than Ralls. Thanks for the additional info. Steve

RE: Jesse Belknap Gilbert
You are correct, the plot map shows that he is buried there, just to the left of Irene's marker, but he has none.

Nice. Reminds me off an elderly woman that I lived with during high school. She was from deep South and always dressed up for everything. She said just about the same thing as your mom. Have a good day, Sue

I transferred Loronzo to you. FYI...my son-in-law is a direct descendant of Jesse Belknap and Jane Garlinghouse....somehow they are probably related.

Georgia Gilbert Garred
I linked her to her parents. Let me know if you would like the memorial transferred as we are not related to this line at all.
I haven't gotten too far back on the Rule side of my husband's family but I do know they had spelled their name Ruhl so it is a possibility. I will keep your Ruhl line handy so when I start digging into that branch I'll see if our lines meet up!

Thanks so much for the additional information. I have updated her memorial. I am not related to Unity but rather to her 2nd husband Bruce Blackwelder, who was a brother of my great-grandmother.

RE: Ella Mae
I have earings that Great Uncle Leonard made the time he came here in the 1960's, think about 1966 when I was about 16 anyway. Mother told so many stories of him as a young man, also how he and Ella Mae took care of his mother till she died. My great grandparents were divorced.

thank you for the information. I never knew my great aunt but have heard many stories. I met my great uncle Leonard once, that I remember. I was too young to remember the other times, the first when I was 3 months at the funeral of a 9 month old cousin - Ray Lee's father was 9 months younger than his Uncle Leonard! My mother had many fond memories of her uncle. - Donna Lee - OKC area

George Perkins 1933-2009
This page is definitely for a George Perkins who was buried in 2009 (dates can be clearly seen on the marker, especially if you click on it to enlarge the photo), so please don't post any photos unless it's the same person.

The reason I photograph temporary markers after they've been there two years is because, at that point, they often will not ever get their own headstone, so at least there's some record.

This marker is at Pine Top Cemetery, well outside the city, and appears to be a relatively new cemetery. I photographed all the visible headstones at the time and didn't find any older than 1986. Perhaps "your" George Perkins is in one of the other area cemeteries.

You might try the Nunley Funeral Home that is listed on the marker for additional information, or the Broken Bow library, which had burial information for the original Broken Bow cemetery closer in town.

Hope this helps!
