RE: Mansfield
Hello Carolyn,

I don't recall exactly what my query was; however Mansfield is not a surname I am researching, but a man named Mansfield Cooksey. He is a bit of a mystery, and not in my direct line but I would love to find out more about his early life.

His birthplace (1841) is given as Georgia when he married Harriet Limerick in 1871 in Berkeley County, WV. His parents were William and Lucy Cooksey. In the 1880 Census of Baltimore he is shown as born in Georgia.

After Harriet's death in 1883, he married Mollie Glassford in 1885, also in Berkeley Co., WV. This record states he was born in South Carolina.

I have been unable to find him in 1850, 1860 or 1870 in either place. It is such an unusual first name that I have often thought it must be a surname, and in fact that is how I first found him in 1880 - looking up first name only, as the last name looks like Cookley which I would never have thought of.

My great grandmother was a sister of Harriet - and the Limericks are mysterious, too! I have probably told you way more than you want to know - Thanks for writing.
