Lula Hess

In researching the Hess family, I thought Lula was a Hanson? Her marriage to Ballard on December 12, 1909 in Greenbrier County lists her as a Hanson. If you have different info on the Hess family, please share it with me. Thanks.

Thank you so much for adding the photo, and additional info! I had been led to believe the grave was probably unmarked.

Burns Cemetery
Hi Pamela, Burns Cemetery is located right on Keiffer Road. You can pick up Keiffer Road right off of US 60 right around Crawley, almost half way between the town of Rupert and the intersection of US 60 and I-64. Keiffer Road will be on the right if your coming from I-64 and on the left if your coming from Rupert or Rainelle on US 60. Actually it dead ends right into US 60. When you turn onto Keiffer Road you'll be going East or North East. I would say you'll go no more than 5 miles and run right into the cemetery. Look at the picture of the cemetery sign I placed on the Find A Grave page for Burns Cemetery. If you have any doubt, call Wallace & Wallace funeral home in Rainelle for directions. FYI, locals will some time confuse this cemetery with "Burns Family Cemetery", which is located in Clintonville on US 60 in between At The End Of The Trail Cemetery and Sam Black Methodist Church. Pamela, the views from Burns cemetery on Keiffer Road are Beautiful! Thanks, Happy New Year! Joel

West Virginia Photographs
Pamela, I just wanted to drop you a note to compliment you on the great work you do photographing headstones in Fayette and Greenbrier County West Virginia. I don't know what state you live in, but if you ever have the time, please consider visiting and working in Burns Cemetery in Kiefer (Greenbrier County) West Virginia. I live in the Baltimore area and only visit Greenbrier County about every two years. This cemetery needs a lot of photographs. I found it about 1 & 1/2 years ago by accident and haven't been back yet. Again, thank you for all you do! Joel

RE: Larry Wayne Cool
I contacted Frank, the historian, for the USS Evans who contacted Larry,s family. Then to Frank's surprise, the cemetary director sent Frank an email with the correct cemetery and the exact location of the grave. I'm now trying to find a local Find A Grave volunteer in that area to take the photo. It's been a circle but interesting. Thanks for all you do.

Thanks again for transferring another record. You have really been busy this year. I would also like to say some of your photos are outstanding. I guess it's kind of dumb saying a tombstone pic is outstanding, but the one you took for 134909892 is down right beautiful.

I do have a question though, I have been to Shuck-Zickafoose Cemetery and do not have a photo of the tombstone for Nannie May Shuck Young, however somebody else posted a record and pic for her there. You posted a record for her at Layland but no pic. Was just wondering if you know which cemetery she is really in?

This stuff can really be a pain in the you know what at times. Last year on our visit to Danese, I took pics for Billion Graves at Bennett-Withrow Cemetery, and added some records to Find A Grave. I got a message from some guy, saying he had added Alfred Marion Withrow years ago and I needed to delete mine. There was no record in Bennett-Withrow for him. When I checked it out, that guy had entered the record into Withrow-Bennett Cemetery in Gatewood, WV. I looked up Gatewood and it's nowhere near Danese.

Another horror story....Sharon Beth distant cousin to my husband photographed Smailes Cemetery, as I also did for Billion Graves. The only sign there says Smailes Cemetery. So wouldn't you think the whole thing is Smailes Cemetery? People are writing to her, telling her so-and-so is not buried in Smailes but some other name and want her to change it. Someone even asked her to take another pic of a stone, after they cleaned it up, when they could have done that themselves.

I was able to finish up a lot of dates on the family tree thanks to your hard work. Thanks Again.

RE: Larry Wayne Cool
The family gave incorrect information. It is the Wallace Memorial Cemetary. I have the specific location if needed. Do you know if that is anywhere near End of Trail?

RE: Larry Wayne Cool
Yes, according to the family it is End of the Trail. The father, Dorman. is also buried there. Also, an infant Mary, I believe. I am new as a volunteer and know how difficult it can be locating a specific grave. Im thinking about contacting our local funeral director for a map of burial sites. I don't know if I can get it, but I'm going to ask. Thanks for all you do. Truly a blessed service for many families.

I was told he was atv that cemetary. I thought the name may have been misspelled. It may be Kool. Let me check further.

Hi Pamela, Thank you for transferring these memorials to me. This was my husbands uncle and aunt. I had a very short time to look around at End of Trail last year, and didn't find the graves, which was disappointing. We now live in Hampshire County, WV, and try to get down and visit his relatives in Clintonville and Danese. I see you have been busy in both of those towns. I always go to P.A. Shuck Cemetery. I would say most of the pics from that cemetery I took, but let another of his relatives use on Find A Grave. I find his family tree fun to work on. Are you looking for anyone special? Maybe you are related somewhere along the line. Thanks again. Judy
