You are very welcome. If you are family, I will gladly transfer the memorial to you. FYI, I also linked the couple.

Hi Thomas,

Memorial #145415839 is not a duplicate of memorial #68747293. Did you get the numbers wrong?

Erbes, Yost

my Name is Gerhard Maus, i am german and my hometown is Bornich, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.

My 3-greatgrandfather Philip Jacob Saueressig from Bornich emigrates with his family with the ship European in the year 1849 to Mendota, La Salle Co., Ilinois.
With the same ship emigrates George Philip Yost from Bornich with his family. He died two days
after arrive La Salle on colera.
One daugther of P.J. Saueressig named Eva Magadalena (Find A Grave Memorial# 37077860)
married in the year 1855 Johan Caspar Yost, one son of G.P. Yost (Find A Grave Memorial# 37075742).

I think the other son of G.P. Yost named Philip Jacob (Find A Grave Memorial# 62159786) is your ancestor over Eva Yost and Frank Arvin Fassig.

Please have a look to my family tree on anceetry
named maus_hermann.

I would like to here from you.
Excuse me for my bad english.

Best regards
Gerhard Maus

Carl and Catherine Scobie Chalk
Hi Thomas,

I mistyped Catherine's maiden name, got it fixed now. I got her being born in Ohio. With her husband I checked through the U.S. census records 1900's through 1940's it has his name as Carl. What I was thinking maybe his nickname was Charles... just a thought. I just found out today that his middle name may not be Edmund. On ancestry I found a World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918, with his middle name being Edwin. So for now on his memorial I got his middle name as E.

RE: Sylvester and Karen Fritz
I'm glad to help, Tom. When you asked whether Muriel was there and I didn't see her I took it as a challenge. It's nice to be able to add to the memorials with a photo of the headstones but it's also really great when I see that the memorials are connected to the families. It looks like Nelson Schernau was also a young widower. Karen was just a baby when Sylvester died. It must have been really hard on her and her kids. I'll try to get a photo Nelson and his first wife's stone when I go back. I'm not sure why this wasn't done before since Muriel's photo was a request.

Muriel Schernau
I meant first husband, of course.

RE: Sylvester and Karen Fritz
Hi again Tom, I did a little checking and it seems Muriel is buried at Fort Snelling after all with last name Schernau. # 66992570 She had remarried. She is over in section K so not too far away from her first wife and daughter. There would be no way they would not have put her with the first two if that were her wish even if they had to reinter them both and put them together if there was no space which wasn't the case here.

Sylvester and Karen Fritz
Hello, I'm the person who photographed these burials and just wanted to let you know that these two, father and daughter, share the same stone. Karen's inscription is on the back. There was no wife to either side but there was an empty space to the right of Sylvester.

Hi Thomas,

Yes, I believe there was a photo for Elizabeth. I think I uploaded it, but perhaps it may be under the wrong Elizabeth given the info you just gave me. It can get confusing when multiple people with the same name exist.

Are you related (I am not)? It's always sad to see a marker with a blank spot where the spouse would be - do you know if his wife is still alive?

RE: Hazel Buettner
Hi Tom,

Several things could have happened. 1) She could have remarried and is buried under a different name, 2) She is buried someplace else or 3) She is buried there but they never had the date of death carved into the stone.

Are We Cousins?
Hi Thomas!

I've noticed you've been doing corrections for the Pohl family. The people you're adding corrections for are in my family tree.

My 5th great grandmother was Ann Kunigunde Pohl who was born 5 Dec 1796 in Zedersdorf, Germany. She married Pankratz Kessel. Her parents were Johann George Pohl and Catharina Fischer. They had a son Johann Nicholas Pohl who married Anna Margaretha Renner, and their children came to Mendota.

Wouldn't it be cool if we were related?
