RE: Charles L. Adams
Sorry I wasn't able to connect them earlier. I only found Charles when I was looking at the plot sheets for another person. From the plot sheets I go out to the plot and enter all who are buried in those plots and take pictures of those who have gravestones. Oakdale area has very few stones since most of the people who are buried there died about 80-110 years ago and there just wasn't the money to buy a stone then. Record keeping at the cemetery then was not what it is now. The people at Union now are very diligent and committed to getting all the records up to date. They want us Find A Grave people to do our work as it helps them to get all the records updated and correct. At times you can find people in the computer but not in the card file or plot books or the other way around. I do so many of these that I just don't have the time to look at all the sources to located people and get all the correct info. The plot sheets list people by dates they are buried there, so I could be off 1, 2 days or even 10 or more.
You now have Charles. I connected him to his wife but didn't change the date of death. I know you will enjoy working with him. I know I do when ever I am able to connect families. Keep in touch if you need anything else. I am always glad to help. Dean

So sorry for the late reply. I made the correction re: relationships. I am not related to him, so am transferring his memorial to you. You may wish to contact the other memorial holder to request they delete their duplicate. I would also suggest that you first contact the person who added the photo and request that they add it to your memorial. Good luck...

RE: J.W. Van Benschoten
Thanks, I have added info from 2 of J M Guinn's "History Of" biography collections, the 1892 "History of Fresno County, and a lot from Paul Vandor's 1919 collection, as well as some biographical sketches from 1933 I found online.

The 1892 book, the two J M Guinn books and the "History of Fresno County" are all on Google Books and on

I check regularly to see what else they have made available. You can actually download the full books as PDF files for free when they are out of copyright.

RE: Re: Adams in Union Cemetery
Jeff: There was one Charles W. Adams in the Union computer; born 9/9/1869, died 12/24/1941. In I found Charles Levi Adams, 12-29-1869 Cambria, San Luis Obispo, CA, died 1934 in Randsburg; married Mattie B Cameron, unk date. It shows two children by this union, Madeline born in 1899 and Iren born in 1903. This info was taken from another persons genealogy so the accuracy is questionable. The info on Mattie matches yours. Have you tried ''? It's free. Don't know what else to tell you.

RE: Photo Requests - Widdows
I spent a good part of my afternoon looking for information on William Widdows(Widows).

City clerk of Tama ONLY shows 3 Widows that are buried at Oakhill: Sarah, John and Benjamin. John is a son of Sarah's. Found a small article stating John was a brother to Mrs. Will I Fife.

1896 census states she was widowed. Children at home was Edna 23, Mildred and Homer.

I did search the DAR records for the cemetery and also the WPA records.

Her obit states widowed, she died in Miles City Montana at home of daughter Mrs. Sam Burbidge.
She has 4 other daughters:
Mrs. Will Fife tama IDA
Mrs. Frank Esterly--Oelwein ALICE
Mrs. Will Leek --Long Beech, CA MARY
Mrs. Minnie Laflin-- Chicago
2 sons Will Widows of Fort Madison
Homer Widows of Mason City
Does not state anything about children who have passed on or husband name.
The Fifes are buried next to the Widows; when I took the picture I had no idea they were related. Its a 5 mile drive to cemetery I will goo and get their stones also.

There also is a Civil War record notebook there at the genealogy library, he was not listed in it.

Sorry I did try. The genealogy library has various records I tried looking in them also.

Did he come back from the war? Where did they live in 1885??

Good luck.

Lela Parris Koch
I have transferred the Cameron graves to you. I did not understand what you wanted to add to the memorials. It already told who their parents were. If you wanted links you have to send the numbers.
Take good care of them.

RE: James Ewen Cameron
I have transferred management of Mr. Cameron's memorial over to you. I know you will take good care of it for me. It is one of my special ones because it is in the Potter's Field of the cemetery. I took nearly every photo of the headstones and created nearly every memorial for those headstones and so the Potter's Field is a special place for me.

Cheers - Kathie

Fountain Prairie Cemetery
Please check out several memorial pages with last names of Burbridge, Burbidge, Cox, and Laird

Start with Memorial# 70575291 - for Samuel R. Burbidge - and from his page, you can see family members linked to him.

Do these family links make sense?

If you have corrections or additions for any of these memorials, send an SAC (Suggest a Correction) using the edit tab from any memorial page. Or, if you would like me to transfer any of memorials to your care, send an SAC with a request to please transfer.

Thanks for contacting me, and welcome to Find A Grave!
