Abigail Alden Mowry
When I took the photo of Abigail, I noted that the death date is 1851. I'm wondering if it was just incorrect on the stone, as you have 1861. Gail

William Henry Smith
# 138483772. You placed a photo of his family on the memorial so I take it you know a bit about this family. I also take it you are probably closer to his wife than him. I am thinking that he is probably the son of Ferdinand (C. F.) Smith and Martha A Level Smith. Evidence is showing me that Ferdinand Smith is buried in Dayton Twp, Phillips County, Kansas. Do you know anything about the cemeteries located in Dayton Twp.? Evidence is also showing me that Ferdinand's wife moved to Lincoln County , Oregon with sons' John H. Smith and Samuel Smith. She probably died in Oregon. Do you know anything about the family of Ferdinand and Martha A. Smith?

Exline Transfers
I think I got them all but if you locate others I have, just let me know. P. S. I went all through grade and high school with Lois, wife of Gary Exline, here in town. I used to see them at alumni events but haven't seen them for a while.

John Hemphill

I think I sent you some confusing information about John Hemphill. I think he did died in Memphis. However, prior to being sent to the hospital in Memphis he entered the convalescent camp in Helena, Arkansas. Helena is about 65 miles south of Memphis (a little shorter by boat). I looked at the muster report you sent and found a similar muster report on 3Fold for John Hemphill going to the convalescent camp. I just wanted to clear that up.

My wife is a very proud member of the DAR, interestingly enough her third Great Grandfather Comfort Walker enlisted in Company D of the 11th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment when the Civil War broke out. He died of sickness on November 12, 1862 near Camp Patterson, Missouri.

John Hemphill
Here is some information I found.

John Vance Hemphill was a Private in Company D, 33rd Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He enlisted on 13 August 1862 in Louisiana, Missouri for a period of three years. Private Hemphill died in hospital at Memphis, Tennessee on 25 March 1863. It appears he was left in a convalescent camp on 24 February 1863 at Helena, Arkansas.

John Hemphill

There is no marker for John Hemphill in the Memphis National Cemetery. If he is buried there he has a headstone marked "Unknown U. S. Soldier". If you would like I can put a photo of one of those markers on his memorial. Please let me know.

Bruce Linz

RE: Thanks for the Obit
Happy to do it, in fact that is how I ended up putting so many memorials on FindAGrave. I research my genealogy and come across so many interesting things, like historic information or obits, and thought, "Wow if this was my ancestor I would love to know that". So one day I thought, why not set up memorials for others and put the information out there, and hope a family member will eventually see it. I can't tell you how rewarding it has been when I get contacted from a person who "found" their great-Gramma/uncle's, etc, memorial and had no idea where they were buried, or about the information that was on it.
There have only been a handful of contributors that have replied to my suggestion of an obit/historic information, that says this isn't what Find A Grave is about....and they do not want to add anything but the tombstone information.

You're very welcome. They were close together and easy to find so it was no problem.

RE: Ruth Hollingsworth Witcher
Hi I had them in my photos already just had not had time to add them yet. N. L. was on the same stone as Ruth, his name is not showing on there but it is on the top of the stone, and the dates matched, so I attatched both photos of the stone. It does give the exact dates of birth and death. If any of the photos are not of the quality you would like please let me know as I am going to be going back there this weekend to the beginning of next week to get more photos for the other requests. I am actually working on getting the entire cemetery photo graphed. Have a great day!!!

It is not a bother. I enter extra memorials and photos in the hope one of their relatives will see them and want them. That's my reward and a transfer makes me smile as I feel I am reconnecting family. Take good care of them please. If there are more you want, just let me know.
