RE: James Fichter
I have a lot of catching up to do to come CLOSE to the errors you have "fixed" on the memorials I manage!

You are right in that Pauline is the mother. You have the wrong date of death on her memorial. I linked her as the mother and sent an edit for date of death for Pauline.

Cheryl,

You want to link Pauline Fitcher (1928-1950) as his mother.

However he was born in 1964 and she died in 1950 so I don't think that will work.

For that reason I am declining the edit.

Flynn Photo's
Cheryl,
Thanks for the beautiful pictures you took of the Flynn Family for me. I like the way you took two photo's of some markers bring mother and daughter and husband and wife together. It makes a strong connection for people searching for their roots!
Margaret A. you changed to Margarite. Is that a nickname?
Keep up the great work!
God Bless, Ken

Hi, when I was out friday, I was looking at the wrong HS and said to you, nothing had been updated yet. I was out yesterday sat and found the right HS. Two nice days and 4 months of snow every where, busy two days. I don't make any list of HS that need to be updated, pretty much know where they are, and I troll around each section, usually catch it.

glad I found the right one and your happy :)

Hi again, Cheryl!

Re: birth dates
While we can get a "circa" birth year doing gravestone math, a primary source (family bible, census, military pension record, or other account made during the person's lifetime) is necessary to to be more accurate. Colonial era stones rarely include birth years, and even the individual's given age at death is complicated by the transition from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. I use "circa" birth years in the bio section unless there's a primary source confirming that the person was actually born in that year.

Best regards,
Nikita

RE: Flynn's
Awesome! Glad you found them. I checked too and I am disheartened that I missed the ones in the L area. Oh well, can't be perfect all the time. Thanks so much for asking me... but no worries Cheryl, you won't ever step on my toes **( or graves** teehee) if you are doing what you love to do! Enjoy the nice weather. maybe we'll see each other out there this weekend!

RE: St Patrick's cemetery
I only found two names with Flynn in my photos. So you can go for it... That brings up another point. Cheryl, go a head and do what you do, find the photos for those that want them, whether I'm doing that cemetery or not. I'm just systematically going thru them. By all means get the photos for people who ask! Have fun out there! Enjoy this weather this weekend. - Robin

Hi Cheryl. I've removed Dorcas Harrison Condit as Nancy Condit Harrison's mother from Nancy's memorial page. Thank you for pointing out the mistake. Regards, Joan S.

Samuel Condit #6768889
Hi again, Cheryl!

I've prefaced Samuel's memorial page in Orange Presbyterian Churchyard with "ORIGINAL BURIAL SITE" & in the last paragraph explain that his remains were moved to Rosedale.
This was a common practice in urban areas, where many colonial burial grounds were lost to construction from the 1850's on. The dead were typically moved to the nearest large cemetery and re-buried in a mass grave. There are a number of transfers to Rosedale from defunct cemeteries. When individuals were moved, however, their gravestones usually went with them. Samuel is unusual in that he got a new gravestone, and the old one is still standing in the churchyard, where it serves as a cenotaph, as does the Condit monument. Findagrave has always recognized the creation of separate pages for current and original gravesites, and that this is not "duplication". Samuel is so well-represented in stone at both Orange Presbyterian and Rosedale, he's an integral part of both these cemeteries, and should be listed on both rosters. I don't understand why it would be a problem to add family links to both memorials.

Best regards,
Nikita

Condits et al
Greetings, Cheryl!

My apologies for the delays. I'm presently trying to recover files & other data that were lost as my computer was recently damaged, so I haven't been able to review suggested edits as promptly as usual. I don't automatically approve anything because I've found that since the edit feature was introduced, as much as 20% of the suggested info has been inaccurate. For example, unless there is a primary source confirming a birth year, or if there are conflicting accounts, accuracy is best served by using "circa" in the bio section, rather using "gravestone math" to fill in the birth year section. I've also noticed changes have been made to my Condit entries without my approval, including "merges" that seem to contradict Findagrave policy re: priority based upon time stamp. This issue still needs clarification.

Best regards,
Nikita
