RE: Henry Ellis Visage
I really haven't had any luck finding any info on them either. Georgia really doesn't provide much info on anything and just really hard to track people down.

Lisa

My wife is a Visage and I have been working on the family tree a couple of years now and was trying to add a little more info that I have found on here so others could also use it. He is her 3rd cousin, 1 time removed.

You are most probably barking up my tree! They scattered very well, Start in Virginia, down to NC during revolutionary Times, then to Kershaw County,[and later part of it became Lancaster County], AL, AR, and Mississippi. If you run into any of these, let me know.

I was lucky enough to meet a 4th/4th cousin 1 time removed. He has a Master's Degree in research librarianship. Judy

Ramah Church Cemetery
Hi Lisa, I am a member of this church and am also on the Cemetery Committee. Several of the newer, small markers with names and no dates do not have anyone buried there yet. This is what we are doing to ensure correct burial as we have had some burials without our knowledge. The Harper Family you have listed are all still alive, and the S. after Waunda does not stand for "Speer". I am currently working on a book of memorials for those who were members and are buried there. Also, some of the information that was previously put on this website did contain some errors that eventually I hope to get corrected. Thanks! Feel free to contact me.

Thanks!
Hi Lisa,

I noticed that you photographed the headstones of James and Melba Herin. Thanks so much for doing that. It's volunteers like you that make this world a nicer place!

My oodles of middle Georgia kin start with Davis, Holloway, Seagroves/Seagraves.

Sincerely,
Jen

Mother of Hester Willis
Artieshimie is the second wife of John William Willis & not the mother of Hester. Hester's mother was Margaret Collier. But I don't know of a way to correct this. Are you able to correct it?

RE: Nehemiah Dumas
There was a couple of Goggans in the 4th Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters as well. I have a photograph of one of them in his State of Georgia Uniform very early in the war. William J. Goggans is the one that I have a picture of. John M. Goggans is the other one.

If you decide that you would like to get a memorial marker for Nehemiah I will be happy to help you. It is free of charge from the Federal Government, you just have to fill out a form.

RE: Nehemiah Dumas
Do you have any photographs of Nehemiah? I am currently writing the Regimental History of the 4th Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters of which Nehemiah was a member. I am trying to collect as many photographs of the members as possible.

Have you guys thought about ordering him a memorial marker? I have ordered a memorial marker for one of ancestors and have helped order several more. Your husband will actually have to do it being that he is a descendant but I would be willing to help anyway that I can.

Carolyn Golowka
RE: Robrt S Ortagus
Sort of related. Did find his name to be Robert Sims Ortagus, not Robert Lewis. That was a typo in a transcription. His father, Robert Gregory, was brother of Sara Agnes Ortagus. She married my uncle. I have only recently found the Ortagus family. They are hiding in the census records. Turns out that Robert G and Sara Agnes were orphaned in 1880 when they were 12 and 11, respectively. Don't know when their father died but their mother died the same day as their grandmother, Ann Ortagus, within 2 hours. Sad story that.

Thank you for making the change so quickly.

Hi,

I saw where you'd asked Georgia Girl if she was related to the Leake's.

Just wanted to let you know I am and am interested in knowing if you are as well.

Hoping to find another researcher.

RE: Ebenezer United Methodist Church
Thanks for the explanation, Lisa. I was wondering how those duplicates came to be...

I did delete the memorials you sent to me, even though mine were actually made first, because the other duplicate had a photo or some document or data already attached and I figured it was easier to delete mine than move everything around. But I was wondering if you had noticed the dates when the memorials were each made.

Sincerely,
Laura

No, I'm not related to the Leake family. I'm descended from the Hunt family (w/Rivers connections) ... Sarah "Sallie" Hunt (m. Dr. John Rivers).
