Danke Shoen... Heine memorials at Sacred Heart
Ken, I don't know if you have the time for following Facebook, but this morning, Jeanne Wilber posted a photo of Mr & Mrs John Heine... but had no other information to share.

One other participant stated that their given names were Jack & Margaret. That was enough for me to put on my Sherlock Holmes hat... & in less than five minutes I found your memorials... & sent the following message:

"Given the clues provided by other contributors, I found that John Matthew "Jack" & Margaret Mary (Gaspelin) Heine are at rest, side-by-side, in death as in life, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Freeport, MN.

"Both were born in 1903. They were married 28 June 1927. Margaret passed in 1984, "Jack" died in 2002 at age 98."

If I'm totally honest, Ken Beuning should get most of the KUDO's... a native of Freeport, he's the one who the real work of researching the details & documenting them in the Find-A-Grave memorials I used. I've seen him in action before, so I knew I could trust the accuracy of his memorials.

Namaste, "PJ" Braun, ETCM/USN (retired)

If you ever have trouble reading a tombstone, try making the image a "negative" with your photo software. That helps a lot sometimes even though it doesn't look right to post it!

John Bernard Beuning
Hi Ken:
Are you related to John B Beuning (1904-2002)? I was in contact with a Maureen (Merrigan) Beuning (1924-2007) about the Merrigan line.
I have a few questions, if you are connected.

Would you transfer this record to me? You previously transferred his parents, Bernard and Julianna. Thanks.

One more mistake. My great-grandmother was Mary Wenker, the daughter of Catherine Borgerding. I have a pending edit. Sorry again, but I am just getting into the tangle of the Wenkers.

Thomas and Henry Borgerding
Back like a bad penny.

Would you be willing to transfer both of these to me?

Father Thomas Borgerding 86544701
Father Henry Borgerding 86547969

They were brothers of my great-grandmother Catherine Borgerding (not yet linked to her parents).

Benedictine priests, as well as nuns, took new names when they were ordained. The name John with Father Thomas is possibly his birth name, but I have had a hard time finding that information for either of them.

St. Mary of the Rock is a very confusing subject, but it is in Franklin County, Indiana. My cousin from Cincinnati knows where it is and has been meaning to visit. I can research further with her and clarify this.

Thanks very much.

Wilhelm Wenker
I have really messed up in previous messages, and I don't know if you read my last. Please change the text to read as follows, to correct the confusion I have caused:

Gerhard Henrich Wenker
Adelheid Boeckers

The Wenker farm was a century farm east of Freeport. After Wilhelm, it was farmed by his son Bernard (Ben), then by his grandsons Al and Bill until they retired.

Other text should be removed.

I found this page, which lists his parents:

If you are willing, would you transfer this memorial to me? Thanks, and sorry for the confusion.

I am so sorry to muck up things so badly.

The list of children are the children of Bernard Wenker and Julia (Juliana) Hoeschen Wender, NOT of Wilhelm Wenker. Ben's children were Clara, Bill, Della, Marie, Al, Maurice (Max), and Joseph.

It was Ben's sons Al and Bill who ran the farm.

Caroline, Sister Benita, and Sister Macrina were some of Wilhelm's children.

It's a huge family, and I get confused easily. I promise to do better in the future.

My list of Wilhelm's children in my last message is incomplete, and I will have to verify all. Missing are (at least) Caroline (my grandmother), Sister Benita Wenker OSB, and Sister Macrina Wenker OSB. I will continue to look for more records on all of them.

Thanks for adding this record. I am the great-grandson of Wilhelm Wenker (through Caroline Wenker Euteneuer and Evelyn Euteneuer Olson). My mother advises that everyone called him "William," although he died before she was born.

I believe that the "Guilillunes" name is a misspelling or misreading of the Latin "Gulielmus." Priests sometimes used Latin versions of names on baptismal or other records. I have seen a census of Sacred Heart in Arban (1890?), which lists my mother's other grandfather Wilhelm Euteneuer using the Latin version of the name. (I wish I had a copy of "The Arban Way" by Robert J. Voigt, but I can't fine one.)

I would like to correct the name to just Wilhelm. I do not know where the "W" initial came from, and I am not sure it is correct.

The Wenker farm was a century farm east of Freeport. After Wilhelm, it was farmed by his sones Al and Bill until they retired. Wilhelm's children (no particular order) were Clara, Bill, Della, Marie, Al, Maurice ("Max"), and Joseph. There is a photograph of Max at Charlie's Cafe in Keillor's book In Search of Lake Wobegon.

Ken....You might want to check the paternal link of Henry John Rohling (115691772). The link indicates that he was born before his father was born.

Re:Mary Albers Wahls Micklish
Thank you for transferring Mary to me. She is my great great grandmother through her daughter Elizabeth U Wahls Botz. I am not directly related to the Micklish branch, but will keep in mind your offer of transfer if I see that you have any other memorials following through the Henry Wahls line, particularly that of his daughter Elizabeth.
Thank you again.

Mary is my 2x grandmother by one of the daughters of her first marriage to Henry Wahls. I have linked him to her. Would you transfer management to me if your relationship is more distant? Her # is 114161041. I am also interested in knowing our relationship if there is one. You may respond through my public message or my email posted on my page. Thank you.

Ann Birr Denk
Van Heels at Sacred Heart, Freeport
Hi Ken, I have started the task to unravel the Van Heel/Verkennis families. Do you have anything further on them? I know there are 2 distinct families with Frank Van Heel married to Mary Verkennis and Henry Van Heel married to Anna Verkennis. I have seen some references to a Peter Van Heel married to Catherine Notch in the area as well. Didn't know if the memorials you created are related or part of the overall photo process for Sacred Heart. If you have no relationship, I would be willing to take the Van Heel names to cross reference with the 28 assorted Van Heels I am looking to link!! Some are related to me through marriage, others are just siblings to them. Thanks, Ann 48201675

Ferdinand Bäuning
Bäuning in Germany
Hi Ken,
My name is Ferdinand Bäuning and was born in Dinklage in 1955. My grandpatents are Josef and Josefa Bäuning. They have 12 children and meanwhile we know that all people with the name Bäuning and living in Germany are related to each other.
I remember that in 1981 Dr. John Beuning was in Dinklage and Lower Saxony and have had some meetings with my father (Hermann Bäuning 1925 - 2011). They talked about the genealogy of the familiy Bäuning. I'm sure that a lot of documents are in hands of my mother. I will visit her on Christmas and can take the documents and scan this. Are you interested in this papers?
Kind regards

Koopmeiner's at Sacred Heart Cemetery
Ken, I noticed that you have added several of my family member's in the last few months...the Koopmeiner's. I am curious to know if they appear to all be in one area or if they are scattered throughout. It looks like they all have the same type of headstone. If they are all in one area, I think it would be neat to see a pic of all of them standing side by side from a distance. I can't tell if Gesina Koopmeiners stone is like all the others, but it appears to be. Do you by chance have a full view of her stone? Thank you! Tina
