photo request
Sharon - sorry that I was unable to complete your request. I do see that someone has taken a photo of the other half of John Reaves' tombstone.

Hi Sharon....

I saw you are looking for cemetery records. Firstly, good luck with that!! A few years ago I attempted to find some info and it was not easy. The person who was keeping the records had them AT HER HOME!! She was working the library the day I spoke with her and she told me she had to get them from her HOME!! Knowing what I know about the township, it's no surprise. Needless to say, I never heard back.

With that being said, here is a basic form/contact page for Holton Township. You could try that. There is a page for the cemetery, but clicking on the "cemetery supervisor" link takes you to a list of people....and I didn't see anything there.

Hopefully you get this. I see it's been since September since you've posted. If this doesn't get you anywhere, let me know. I can find out more through a friend who is president of the school board there.

My roots go back to my great-great grandparents in Holton and ended with my grandma:)

RE: Zagers
You are more than welcome. Glad I could be of assistance. I also did the best I could trying to link all the Zagers burials together on this site. It took a bit of Ancestry / FamilySearch to get it plotted out, but finally finished it... hoping someone would need it someday. Enjoy! Megan

Also, you may notice on the "group" shot that Evert's headstone is against a tree - and the engraving is basically gone. If you want / need a rubbing, we could try to see what comes up- just let me know.

RE: Evert Zaager's
Try this name - Evert Zagers

no apostrophe - and keep the "s" on the end of the name, this is how it is spelled on the cemetery records and headstones.

I don't find him listed on findagrave. go ahead and add a memorial page for him but do not request a photo. I will take care of his and Rhoda the next time I am over there. If I don't find a stone for him do you want a picture of the page from the cemetery book showing who is in the plot?

RE: Greiner pics
I posted more Greiner photos that I took when I was there. My wife is a Balavitch, they moved from Weare to Big Rapids in 1960. Her Anut is Casimira Czapite Bakhan. Her grandparents are Adam & Johnanna Czapite Balavitch. I made a trip there on Sunday just to get the photo of the Bakhan headstone & the Find A Grave request.

We are having a Balavitch family reunion on July 6.
