The marker for Charles is badly damaged & the 'more' part is very worn - I am no longer sure & don;t want to send you on a wild goose chase as you said you had no record of Charles. I am planning to go to the parish office this coming week or so - while I'm there, I will ask if whether they have access to any burial records or if there is a graveyard map.
I have lots of pictures of Trinity Churchyard. I go there quite a lot - it's very beautiful first thing of a morning.

The only Skydmore grave at Holy Trinity I could find is for Charles. There's barely anything left of the inscription but I have a photo if Charles is one of your ancestors.

We have to be related somehow....
Aaron Palmer's (Benejah's brother) daughter, Maria, married into my grandma's family [married W. W. Collins]. Otis Watts Webb married my grandfather's sister [Georgia Gardner], etc.
Let's keep in touch,

Unfortunately most of the pre-1700 graves at Holy Trinity Church are in very poor condition with very few inscriptions intact. It is a very small churchyard, however so if there is a recognizable Skydmore plot, I'm sure will find it. Failing that, I have many photos of the church & its grounds. I have one as my profile pic - please take a copy if you'd like.

Adam, you're welcome. I do not know the Lady that created the memorial, but over the years she has created many, many memorials in this cemetery so it may take her some time to make the corrections.

You're welcome. I'm pleased I could be of assistance. I also submitted an edit request to correct the spelling of the name on the memorial for Merrill A. Gallup.

Feel free to use any photo contributed by me. I am in favor of sharing as long as I can document my source to you. The Phila Ann photo I mentioned is a new find for me. It is a picture of her as a teen. I also have a "Mystery" women that was in the same set as the other tin-types of the Mapes. Perhaps you could identify her?
Feel free to communicate with me in the future with my email address. I've only been on Find a Grave a few days so am unfamiliar with procedure.
I have been on hiatus from genealogy for a few years but recently rekindled the quest so hopefully will be more active in the future.
As you can tell, I was in contact with Cathy and Larry a few years ago. I actually visited with them when on a trip thru Michigan. They are an amazing couple with excellent research discipline. I sent them an email about my new photo find but have yet to hear back.
What line of Mapes are you identified by? You were right, I'm the son of Louisa Ruth and Howard.
Sorry about the rambling. Looking forward to hearing from you.

You are welcome. I thought it only fair.
As for your question,what you are referring to is how to create a hyperlink to another memorial on findagrave. Find A Grave does allow the creation of such links, but only to other Find A Grave memorials, not to other websites. Several far more experienced members than I have explained it very well in Find A Grave's 'Discussion Forums.' I suggest you go to the forums, click on 'Search' and insert "hyperlink" in the box. When the list comes up look for GenealogyGravy's post called 'Linking memorials.' Click on that and follow the instructions there on how to create hyperlinks. It looks intimidating at first and don't be alarmed if the first couple links you try bring error messages when you click on them. Try again and be very careful of spaces and punctuation and memorial numbers. I have created hundreds of such links on my memorials to uncles, grandparents, g grandparents, friends/mentors of my relative, etc. Hope this helps.
Good luck with your research. Thanks again for taking the grave photos.

|Gil||RE: Phila Mapes|
Phila Ann Townsend was my maternal Great Grandmother. She first married Justin N. Stephens and had a child Sally Ann Stephens born 20Dec1856 and died 26May1857. It appears Justin died shortly after.
She then married my Great-Grandfather John Emmett Mapes and my Grandmother Mary Asenath Mapes was the last of four children.
The tin-types for the pictures you saw are in my possession. I just recently discovered another in my files of Phila Ann in her early teens. (guess on my part, I have no date).
I would be glad to share the material I have with you.

Do you know about Lucy Skidmore Scribner? She's the one I thought Elnathan might be related to and why I took the photo of his marker.

|Patricia Ogden Baker||RE: Mapes links|
I used to live in Middletown and have distant family buried in the Mapes Cemetery. I have been there several times over the years and the stones are degrading quickly. I have often wondered if it would be possible to get a group of people to go in and clean up that cemetery. I am happy to hear that there are others who have taken an interest in that cemetery. My family line in that cemetery is with Jonathan, Hannah, and Alsop Ogden. Alsop's stone is no longer legible and the other 2 stones are not far behind.

|Dutch Ramsdell||RE: Abbotts|
The simple answer is probably not. My source for Joseph and Nancy is a book about the descendents of some Abbott that you could look at at the Archives at the Library of Michigan. The reason I say probably not is there is a probate record for Joseph that lists his children as Lucy, Sophia, Mary Ann and Dolly, all girls and likely to have changed their last name. So we would have to go back at least a generation from Joseph. But, if we do draw a connection, does that mean I'm related to the rest of the Sweets, not just Mike, Gary, John, Dave and Kathy?
I'm about to leave for the library to pull your obituaries. But, I can poke around on ancestry if you would like. I see Gendis didn't list parents for Abraham so we will have to use other sources. Actually I did the ones from 1970 yesterday because I have the papers in the house.
