Memorial# 97391677 Thanks for your time. I was looking for her husband, Colbert Travis. I guess there was no double headstone. He isn't buried next to her. He isn't on the list either. Back to the drawing board.

I appreciate your time, effort, and willingness to take gravestone photos. Your photos of the gravestones for Leo and Wilma McMain, Archie and Amanda Tallant, and Ed and Zenoby Simpson are so appreciated. I work hard to research people and post the best memorials I can, and I've gotten behind in coming to Durant to take photos, and you have been a real Godsend. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for your beautiful bio on John Smith Cater. If only I could find his sister, my gg grandmother, Mary Ann Cater Cook. I found a Mary Cook that died back in Wood County, Texas but not sure if it was her. Did you by chance find a Mary Cook near John's grave? She was born in 1846 in Alabama as was the other brother William in 1848.
However, unless you know something I don't know, it has not been 100% proven that Mitilda Roberson was their mother.
The 1st 2 children Mary and William were born in Alabama and John was born in Texas. Their mother died died before 1859 as Wm. Sr. married Emily Johnson.
There is this marriage in Virgina (although I can't figure why he would be up there except he did travel a lot it seems.
Emily Ann C. Smith
Spouse Name: William Cather
Spouse Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 31 Mar 1846 (maybe already preg with baby Mary Ann)
What haunts me about this being their mother is John SMITH Cater's name.
I have yet to prove this either ... but all 3 children say their mother was born in Alabama so I only have that to prove ... I have yet to find Mary & Wm. Jr's birth record as records in Alabama are rare back then :(
I will never stop searching until I find who my TRUE undoubted gggg grandmother is <3
P.S. Mary Ann Cater married Christopher Columbus "Christian" Cook.
