RE: Robert James O'Connor
Paula, I forgot one more thing: if you'd like me to transfer Robert's listing to you, I'll be happy to do so.

RE: Robert James O'Connor
Hi Paula:
Thanks for your message. Sadly, most major cities have cemeteries like Dunning. In fact, Cook Co. has a few of these cemeteries, but Dunning is the only one in Cook Co. that has been disturbed by construction. I wish you luck in your research of your family, and if you need suggestions or advice please feel free to contact me.

RE: Robert James O'Connor
Hi Paula:
When I created this record, Cook County death records from that time period were available on the Familysearch website. The record for Robert was created based on information found on his death record. I'm not a relative, but entered this information as part of a project. If you look at my contributor page on this website you can read about why I took this project on.

In answer to your question about burial place for his parents: it's possible that his parents ended up being buried at this cemetery. This was a charity-type cemetery so there are mostly single graves and not lots. People were buried there in the order of their need to be buried. There are a lot of babies and young children buried there without their families for one reason or another. It's possible that his parents are buried elsewhere. Sorry I can't be of more help.

RE: Conrad Koenig
Hi Paula, I'm a very distant relation to Conrad's third wife. My family branches off from another sister of that third wife. I have no information about Conrad having a child with Maria. They are so distant, I didn't do a whole lot of research into them. I can tell you that Anna Wiley is a granddaughter of Christian Ludwig Wilhelm Rath by his daughter Maria who married a Deglow. And Margaret Meese is Anna Wiley's daughter. So, perhaps they were just using graves up?? So Conrad's third wife is not your blood ancestor? A shame, because I have the Rath line going way back in Germany. Glad to have helped. If you need anything else, just let me know.

Info on Conrad Koenig's wife Maria
Daughter of Wilhelmine Bartel and Charles Rosenow. In 1902 she was listed in the will of her step grandfather, William Rath, as Maria Rosenow, daughter of William's stepdaughter.

Roy Rosenow, stepbrother of Maria, lived in Richfield, OH for some time, where he received a postcard from his stepsister in about 1911 with her name being Wolf.

Marriage record shows that Mary Rosenow married Conrad Koenig on Nov. 23, 1918, Rev. H. Weseloh at Immanuel Church presiding. Mary was 40 years old, 1546 Highland Avenue, born Cleveland to Charles Rosenow and Minnie Rath. Conrad was 50 years old, 1238 E. 12th St., born LaSalle County, Illinois, to Gustav Koenig and Margaret Herbold.

Obit states: Mary Koenig, 7726 State Rd., Parma, wife of the late Conrad, sister of Roy and dear friend of Jack and Bert Wolfe.

Buried at Brooklyn Hts. Cemetery, Hawthorne Section, Lot 227. Headstone reads: Mary Koenig 1878 - 5/16/1944
Died of cerebral hemorrhage.
Sources: DOB and DOD from obituary. Marriage cert. at Cuyahoga County archive.

RE: Conrad Koenig
Hi Paula,
I just added the headstone photo from my listing to yours and will just delete my Conrad Koenig, leaving yours as the only one. Just a few corrections for you. His wife that he married in 1918 is Mary Rosenau, not Rosenan. You are correct that her father was Charles Rosenau. Her mother Minnie - her full name was Johanna Wilhelmina "Minnie" Christiane Bartel, as she was born 4/23/1845 in Mildenitz, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany, before her mother married Christian Ludwig Wilhelm Rath in 1854. So, Minnie born 1845 was an illigitimate child to Hanna Sophia Maria Bartel before Hanna Sophia Maria Bartel married Christian Ludwig Wilhelm Rath. Christian Ludwig Wilhelm Rath and Hanna Sophia Maria Bartel are my 3x great grandparents. I have the Rath and Bartel history going back further if these two would be your direct ancestors. Let me know and I can send you some info.

The information I have is from Marion Co. Cemetery Inscription Book. I went back and checked the book and found I had entered the date incorrectly, I have corrected it and added the marriage date.

RE: Lois Koenig Laio
Hi. Thank you!
According to the SSDI, Margaret Koenig Kovacic born 9-1-1926 died on 8-5-2008. They would probably have a copy of her obituary at the La Salle County Guild as it was posted in the local newspaper there.

I think Emily's parents might be right under our noses!
Check out the 1850 census in Whiteside, Illinois
at the bottom, it lists "Calvin Williams" Born 1800 in New York.

Could this be Emily's father? Living with her and her family in 1850.

Name: Emily Gage
Age: 25
Birth Year: abt 1825
Birthplace: New York
Home in 1850: District 37, Whiteside, Illinois
Gender: Female
Family Number: 304
Household Members:

Johnson W Gage 32
Emily Gage 25
Oakman Gage 7
George Gage 4
Nathan Gage 3
Charles Gage 1
Obediah Gage 37
Calvin Williams 50

I will keep looking, but I think that is her father at least. We won't have much luck finding the mother if she died before 1850 because the census listed only the head of the house prior to this.

I agree that the stone appears to read Thomas so I will check the sexton records at a later date to confirm.

My dates for Maggie have to be incorrect if she is the daughter of John and Hester Petty. I have changed these dates to the 1800's and will verify at a later date with the sexton records. Also, by using the Illinois State Marriage Archives, I found Mattie's maiden name and Minnie's full name, as well as, their respective marriage dates.

My oldest daughter graduated in Dec from Auburn with her RN. Two days later she started a job as a pediatric orthopedic nurse in the hospital near her in Dothan, Alabama. She is sweating taking her boards also. Her husband is a disabled vet and he gave her his GI Bill to go to school on!
