John and Charles Goble

I went back up to Curry’s Chapel and was able to obtain the following information.

Charles Goble Headstone Inscription

Charles W Goble
Son of
D and M Goble
August 30, 1891
9 Y 9 M &14d

I double checked a book, Hancock County, Indiana Tombstone Inscriptions, 100 years. 1883-1983 by Sue Baker and it verified the information on Charles Goble. The book, however had it down as Charles Coble.

John Goble

I am having a couple of other people look at it but all I can really see is 51 y and 3 d. I will attempt to contact the church to see if they have any additional information.

As a side note, I believe the local Cemetery committee is going to have the Sue Baker printed again.

I will be sending you a series of images.

RE: John Goble picture
The name is real hard to read. When I can get up there to do a rub on John, I will do this one.

It looks like d. Aug 30, 1861-2

I add a picture of a headstone for John Goble. There appeared to be a Charles Goble headstone leaning up against it.

I found the Burnett-Tompkins family plot. SECTION P, LOT 37. There is a family stone with the name Tompkins on one side and the name Burnett on the other side. There were invidual stones, however no stone for Margaret. So, I have posted the family stone. Sorry.

RE: Eulah Huff
You're welcome!

Also I discovered your other photo request at Steekee for Bessie (Huff) Jump can be found at (Find A Grave Memorial# 30616860). Looks like there are duplicate pages, but the other already has a photo.

Thank you for establishing this memorial. She is also my third great-grandmother through Francis Marion Goble.

Do you know who her parents are?
Could it be Lewis Ludwig Sommers and Lydia Daugherty
OR Henry Summers?

Hi, I had to check the cemetery records to find Nellie, she is with Genevie, but does not have her own stone. According to the records Harry and Harry B. are also there, but only Genevie has a stone. On one of the photos captions I listed each of their space numbers.

RE: Torleif and Nellie Forberg
You are welcome. I did not see a marker for your other Forberg request. Might be worth taking another look one day in case I simply missed it

Hi Lynn
Yes, I put a note that he probably shared the grave with his wife and he had no separate headstone.

Isaac Newton Drake's local obit is now posted to his memorial. My wife and I won't post obits as jpegs, it's frowned upon. I did get him linked with his parents.

RE: Alice Tennant
I have obits for the Drakes, but have not been able to find one for Frank Tennant. The Drake obits are in PDF format and will not copy and paste well at all, I get 1-3 characters per line (this is a recent issue with older archived newspapers at the Hartley library website), so I will have to transcribe them when I have the time.

RE: Gary Gordey
It was my pleasure. BTW, whenever I visit a cemetery to fulfill a photo request I always look for a similar family name, especially when I can find them close by or in the same section. I have only worked half of the cemetery so far and plan to return. Check back for other Gordey family photos. I will download them if I find more.

RE: Alice Tennant
OK, that helps piece together a few bits of info I found in the local newspaper, The Hartley Sentinel. Mr. & Mrs. I.N. Drake had two children, Clyde and Alice. When Clyde passed away in 1898, the obit mentioned his sister as Mrs. Frank Tennant. In 1906, there is an article concerning Mr. & Mrs I.N. Drake relocating to California along with their daughter and her husband, Mr. & Mrs. F Tennant.

You're quite welcome! Do you know her relation to the Drakes? Alice is in a Drake family plot and lies next to Clyde L Drake #10438308.

I went over to Evergreen Cemetery today, but the office was already closed. I'm in that town every week or so and a happy to return if you can call the cemetery office and get a location for the graves. Driving around, it's huge, and I had no luck whatsoever just glancing at older headstones.
Let me know.

You're very welcome & my apologies for taking so long. I had meant to inquire about a request you'd made for someone in Glenwood after I saw a problem logged on it. Did you get that resolved? I plan on stopping by for the Eva Tesar request in the next day or two.
