RE: McCaughan family
One more point....George McCaughan's first wife was Ann Tucker...she had four children with him and died at a young age. I am hoping you might run across some info about her as well. We are so glad you have been so helpful!

RE: McCaughan family
Just wondering if the Illinois index listed Margaret McClellan's father's full name?

Thank you so much for all that you have done to research and add memorials. Also for the Fulkerson info! I will try to follow up on that also. I would appreciate the transfers. This has made my day!

RE: Bloodworth
Hi Paul,

Arthur is a distant Bloodworth cousin. I never knew him. My grandmother was a Bloodworth from southern Illinois who moved up to the Detroit area in the 40s.

RE: Alfred Winston

I'm including anyone that worked there including those prior to the summer of 65 when I started. I've got a list that the retiree group remembers but he wasn't included. I will add him to my IDOT cemetery. Thanks.

RE: Charles McClure
From Lake Charles American-Press Details:
C. 0. McCLURE ; (See Story on Page One) Funeral services for Charles Otis McClure, 67, will be at 6:30 ! p.m. today in the Burke-Hammer funeral home chapel with Rev.Dwight D. Smoothers, assistant pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.
The body will be sent to Tupelo, Miss., for graveside services at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Lee Memorial Gardens. Pegues funeral home will be in charge of arrangements in Tupelo. Mr. McClure, a paving superintendent for E. Aldrich Construction company, died at 11 a.m. Monday in a job accident. He was a Mason and a veteran of World War I. A native of Jackson County, Ill., he had recently moved to Lake Charles. Survivors are his wife; one stepson, Jimmie Lee Odum of Amory, Miss.; and two stepdaughters, Mrs. C. W. Chunn of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Bob Kinkade of San Diego, Calif.

The actual spelling of his middle name was "Ottis", but this confirms I correctly guessed the Find A Grave memorial # 151547389 in Verona, MS is his. Location and Mason membership clinch it!:)

He shows in 1900 census as a 5 year old boarder with a family of a different name. Nice to see he was a WWI vet.

RE: Charles McClure

Have confirmed that Toby was actually Seth A. McClure.

Also confirmed death info on Charles (despite Clara claiming to be a widow in 1940 census):

04/29/1963 Lake Charles, Calcasieu, Louisiana, USA. Was working as a construction superintendent. Was run over by a concrete truck backing up. Details in Lake Charles American Press dated Tues., April 30, 1963.

Possibly at Find A Grave Memorial# 151547389, and buried in Verona MS, as he once resided in a nearby county, per 1940 census, while married to Gypsy McClure.

He was in Elizabethtown, Ill., in 1942, when registering for draft, while married to Gypsy. Can't find a Find A Grave memorial for her.

RE: Charles McClure
Hi again Paul,
Enjoy meeting you as well.
I'm not familiar with the name Seth. Did he go by 'Toby'?
Someone should pursue linking the McClure siblings.
Does Seth have a Find A Grave memorial?

RE: McClure photos
Hi Paul,
Charles's sister, Dorothy Faye McClure Borneman, was my step-mother for 41 years. Her mother, Clara died while visiting her in 1992.
As far as Charles senior goes, you may not find anything, as he ran off during the Great Depression.
Here's a portion of Dorothy's obit:
Her mother, Clara McClure, was an inspiration to Dorothy. After her mother's husband abandoned his wife and six children during the Great Depression, Clara raised Dorothy and the other children with care and compassion.
Note that he was not referred to as her father, and his name was left unsaid.
Too bad, but not all that infrequent during those times.
Best regards!
Wm. B.

RE: Ray Hand

Go ahead and transfer. The Hands were neighbors and I will be putting more names in to tie together. I think Ray ran a service station in Murphysboro.

Thanks, Paul, for the headstone photo. I wondered why the notice came to me instead of Laura. I guess it was because I requested the photo!

Thanks Paul! I actually love obits - they are generally chock-full of information and I don't mind adding it at all -
any that you run across would be most welcome!

Frank Hrabik #117197487
If I go to the trouble of "keying" and sending to you a "biographical sketch" from, "Portrait and Biographical Record of Randolph, Jackson, Perry and Monroe Counties, Illinois" by the Biographical Publishing Company, published 1894, concerning Frank J. Hrabik, will you consider using the content to expand his FAGrave memorial? I realize the document is not a primary source and therefore, you may be hesitant to rely on it. Laura

RE: Thank you!
Thanks Paul. While I do have connections to a lot of your memorials I don't often see direct blood relationship. If I come across any I will be sure to let you know. I just really like passing on the information I have so that we can complete as many family connections as possible.

Some of the families that I do link to in the Ava and Campbell Hill area are: Vogt, Schatte, Froemling, Gentsch, Gerlach, Rathert, Eickhorst, Coleman, Gielow, Repke, Schoeneberg, Kirsch and of course, Biermann.

Please transfer ownership of this memorial to me as she is my mother and I'd like to update the site. Thanks for posting the picture, I'll send other transfer requests too. I'm new to this site and think it's a fabulous source of information.
