RE: Sharps Cemetery
Have entered those folks on your list into Sharps Memorial. Thank you for the update and also for your effort in restoring this cemetery. I appreciate your time and thoughtfulness, also.

I'm sorry I don't have any more information. I'll see if I have a picture that I can post as well though.

RE: Infant Bell
I made a list of 18 infants and young children who died between 1913 and 1931. Am going to check them, some are my entries, and see if they need to be listed as being in Sharps East. I will contact owners of the memorials I don't manage and suggest there be a note in the bio for those who need to be in the east cemetery. Some of the Charleston cemetery burials I have seen are listed as Charleston Colored Cemetery...don't know what to do about those.

I added the info to the bio section. I have several others in Sharps that I need to go back and check the death certificates for, also.

RE: Kittie Bower
We came thru the kept part of the cemetery and realized there were a lot of stones there so we didn't get to look everywhere. It was cold windy and wet the day we came up there. We are in Memphis TN. You may want to contact a local group of boy scouts or a church youth group who may be willing to help. Thanks, Kathy

Kittie Bower
Hi James, I was telling my sister about you cleaning up Sharp cemetery and she suggested you may want o take a metal rod to poke around to see if you can find headstones. I found a few while I was there but there are likely more laying on the ground. Good luck with the cleanup. Kathy

RE: Kittie Bower
Hi James,

I took many photos that day at Sharps. I see Kittie's stone is on the ground. There are many headstones in the cemetery and we could not get to many of them. I don't recall specifically where Kittie is but it definitely looks like it would be overgrown by now by ivy or some other vine. Many trees had also fallen when I was there. I was there looking for Whaleys. I know there are several there and may be more than are listed on findagrave. Have you found any Whaleys? Thanks, Kathy

RE: Aunt Marjorie Jones
Aunt Margie's siblings should all be linked, except my great-grandmother, who I have a link "pending" on. I am sure many people have been confused by the similarity of Nealy's husbands' last names, Morris and Morrison.
Thanks for making the change. What would you like to know about the siblings?

RE: Alva Lucille Sides
No, thank you, the best thing to do is delete them, because they are listed elsewhere. I was hoping , you might have had a lead on who else they could be. We've been trying to find out who all is buried in Hensley and Glover. Thanks for all your help.

James,
I'm sorry I can't help you. The only Mattie Smith I know of was the daughter of Thomas Gardener Smith, b. 1874, d. 1917 in Covington, Tenn. I don't think that is the one you are looking for......If you knew the name of the Smith she married, I might could help you. I have tons of Smiths in my lineage.

RE: Find A Grave Correction: H. Faught
Dear James,
I look forward to seeing the gravestones. I hope the heatwave will have passed by the time you go.

Do you have a GPS unit? If so, it would be wonderful if you could get the digital GPS coordinates (format 35.00000, -89.00000) of each grave. It is always nice to know where in a cemetery a grave is located, especially in large cemeteries. Descendants wishing to pay their respects can easily find their ancestors.

Please let me know when the photos have been posted.

Thanks!

RE: Find A Grave Correction: H. Faught
Dear James,
I got the information from the following web site:
http://www.tngenweb.org/cemeteries/index.php?table_name=DT_Burial&function=details&where_field=bur_id&where_value=22585

I figured they had transposed the birth and death dates as he could not die before he was born.

Now I see they indicate that he died at 72 years old. If he was born in 1812 as you say, and lived 72 years, he WOULD have died in 1884.
Is the death date correct?

Wow, what a mess!

By the way, you can see all the Townsend listings at http://www.tngenweb.org/cemeteries/index.php?table_name=DT_Cemetery&function=details&where_field=cem_id&where_value=1272816
