RE: Lehew Northview cemetery
I uploaded a pic to lehew page with D-49 circled. I'm sorry I uploaded it twice the second time marked other. So it canceled your photo request.

I recently posted a photo of Rachel Van camp memorial in mount olive cemetery Ohio. You can't read the marker though. I had seen the stone 20 years ago and it was more readable.

I tried to fulfill your lehew photo request he is buried in section D plot 49 in an unmarked grave. The office at cemetery has the receipt for the burial. The receipt has "Worthey" Lehew.

Unfortunately, that is the only identifying marker - Pioneer Cemetery has been around for so long, and in that time, has had many groups involved with it. During "the Depression" there was little care, and one by one the various groups that had sponsored or supported it, dropped their interests. The most recent, and beneficial, change was when the City of Salem become the custodian of the property. Thankfully, they chose to contract with the owners of City View Cemetery, the large cemetery to the west of Pioneer. The grounds are now beautifully maintained by the City View staff, with the assistance of volunteers who can then focus on such projects as restoring broken markers (as with many older cemeteries, the usual young folks must sow their wild oats and break markers and create ghost stories - some of the "plots" have been fully restored with curbing and such. Other plots have no curbing or markers -

Fox Cemetery
Fox Cemetery Directions: Here are the directions to the cemetery published in Tom Lowe's book: I-79 S into Greene Co getting off at Mt Morris. From there, take route 19 N, at last intersection before leaving Perry Twp, turn left on dirt road for .7 miles to a crossroad. Go straight thru another 2.6 miles to a double wide trailer on the right. Directly behind trailer is a foot bridge across a narrow run, go straight up a ridge to a small knoll. Ask permission. I do not know the proximity of the cabin to the cemetery. Also, no evidence has been found to confirm Joseph's middle name as Newton.

I just came across your memorial for my 3 great grandfather and need a little clarification. It states that the death certificate says he was 56 when he died in 1893 yet his birth year is listed as 1813. Would love to see a picture of actual death certificate.

Joseph Newton Fox
Hi! My name is Shantel Davis and I am researching the Fox line. Joseph's daughter Elizabeth married Andrew Myers which connects me from my fathers mothers side.
Im getting ready to head for Pennsylvania in 2 wks to dig up what I can and I would love to be able to visit the cabin and the Fox Family Cemetery but have no idea where to locate either. I would like to be sure its alright as well before I go walking around on peoples property. I seen in past messages on find a grave that you were able to help someone else with the same issue. Anyway you could set me on the right track. I would so greatly appreciate it...

Thanks for your time
God Bless & Keep Searching,

Shantel Davis

RE: Edwards line
Hey -

I haven't run into a Francis Lynn Edwards in my Edwards research, nor have I located any relatives in Wetzel Co, WV. The first Edwards ancestors I know of who settled in WV would be my maternal grandparents who moved from OH to Huntington, Cabell Co, WV, and later some other Edwards relatives moved to Wheeling Island, Ohio Co, WV.

Yes, I have heard from others that descendants of Silence Grant Gardner Nye are related to Pres. Grant.

Regarding the death record for Thomas Gardner, I'm still searching. Hopefully one day I'll be able to say with certainty that you and I are cousins. That will be the day, yes! :)

Thanks for your email.

Silence Grant Nye - FAG # 118509833
Hello -

Thank you for maintaining this memorial for Silence Grant Nye who is my 4th great grandmother. At least this is the info. that has been handed down through the generations.

I see that Thomas Gardner is listed as one of her children, and it is through Thomas Gardner that I descend, but I have yet to find documentation that he is the son of Silence (Grant) Nye, who was first married to Benoni Gardner. Again, it is just something that has been passed along verbally. Do you by chance know of any documentation for this? It would provide me something I've been searching for years.

Thank you,
Nancy Edwards

RE: Kelley Cemetery, Fish Creek, Marshall County, WV
I'm sorry to take so long to respond to your question, I've been away from my computer for a while. I live in New Mexico, but was in Pennsylvania and West Virginia a few years ago while my husband had a project in the area. I photographed as many cemeteries as I could, many of them down winding dirt roads and off the main roadways. The Kelley cemetery is on private land, and the owners very generously allowed me to photograph the markers to include on Find A Grave. I no longer have a way to contact them, but you might try the county historical commission.

You are welcome. There is no doubt that we are some sort of cousins. Elisha was my 1st cousin, 4 times removed.
The Headlee/ley is the second largest surname is my tree, second only to my Hartley's. The last time I looked I had over 750 Headlee/ley's
My Gr. Grandfather, Elisha Wilson Hartley married Sarah Headlee. I'm a member of the S.A.R. thru my 3rd great grandfather, Ephraim Headlee who married Mary Fordyce.

That's just a few tid bits for you. That and $5.00 will get you a good cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Thank you for posting the picture of Ebenezer and Ruth Rutter. The family appreciates it. If anyone is ever in the Tyler County, WV area, we'd still like to see a picture of the grave stones/markers for them at Mt. Nebo cemetery. Thanks, Joy Wolfe

LeMasters USA Data
Katherine Lemaster Dendy, did live in Alvarado, TX, possibly on Blue Shore Dr, and is the author of "Up A Tree Doing Genealogy - Update of Lemasters USA 1639-1995"
I purchased a copy(CD) from her several years ago and communicated with her several times afterwards by e-mail, but I have lost her e-mail address, etc. since then. At the time she was charging between $20 to $25 for the CD ( if you had kin, and forwarded your data back to her, she would update it into her records.(Her updated version(CD) is over 500 pages long.)
If you can find a method to contact her, I am sure she will sell you a copy.
If you just have names you need info on, I possibly could provide it, if it is in her records.
My e-mail address is as follows:

Yes, my great grandmother was Mary Ann (Myers) Highley. I have her Myers line as Alfred, Frederick, Andrew Sr, Peter, Ludwig, Philip Nicholas (immigrated from Germany to USA), Michael, Jacob.

Yes, my grandfather was Charles Jefferson "Jeff" Highley, who lived up Crow's Run. His father, Charles Richard Highley, lived up on Piney Ridge, not far from the Straight Cemetery.

About the only thing left of "the old Highley place" last time I was up there was a row of Irises that my great grandmother planted that keep coming back every year.

All 8 of my great grandparents are buried in the Straight Cemetery (Highley/Myers, South/Straight, Bassett/Caylor, Brown/Pierce).
