Thanks! Just so I'm clear, this cemetery is different from the Orange County Farm Cemetery #2, correct?

Charles Elva Walker
Ken, I am Thomas Walker second cousin of Charles. I have been researching my family genealogy for several years. Charles' obituary stated he was interred in Phillipsport. He is on Find A Grave (70904021) in Phillipsport. After searching the Poplar Grove Cemetery and cemetery maps to no avail, I decided to expand my search to Orange County. That is when I found your post for him in Phillipsburg. Two Middletown newspapers also stated interment in Phillipsport. It must have been a typo as we both know he is resting in Phillipsburg. I contacted Sullivan Purcell who posted the Find A Grave in Phillipsport and notified him of the issue. He will remove his post when I notify him. He posted a newspaper article of Charles' tragic railroad accident including an obituary for him. I added a correction to the place of interment in the article. If possible would you please add the article to your Find A Grave post for Charles? Below is the article. Thank you in advance, Thomas Walker

Birth: 1888
Sullivan County
New York, USA

Death: May, 1915
Fair Oaks
Orange County
New York, USA

Fell From Engine and Fractured Skull

Born at Summitville 26 years ago - married Miss Lottie Ramsey of Mongaup Valley.

Flagman Charles E. Walker, of the O. & W. R. R., who wife was formerly Miss Lottie Ramsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Ramsey, of Mongaup Valley, was killed Sunday morning by falling from an engine at Fair Oaks. He suffered a fractured skull.

Walker lived Middletown until three weeks ago, when he transferred to Summitville. This spring his run terminated at Monticello, and on Wednesday of last week he made his last run here on the noon way-freight.

Sunday morning he was ordered out on an O. & W. coal train starting from Summitville. When the train neared Fair Oaks, going south, O. & W. passenger train No. 92 was heard coming and the coal train took the siding to allow the passenger train to pass.

Walker was standing on the front of the engine, holding on to the flag post. As the train neared the siding the air brakes were applied suddenly. Walker had evidently not expected the sudden stop and did not have a firm hold on the post. At the sudden slowing up of the train he lost his grip and fell from the engine, striking his head on the track on which No. 92 was to come.

The coal train had stopped and Walker was picked up. When the passenger train arrived a few minutes later the injured man was placed in the baggage car where he immediately expired.

The train continued on to Middletown and stopped at the Wickham avenue station and Coroner Harding called. The coroner took the statements of the witnesses and rendered a verdict of accidental death.

The body was removed to Summitville Monday morning.

Charles Elva Walker was born at Summitville and was aged 26 years, 11 months and 19 days. He was the son of S. C. Walker and Anna Culligan. He is survived by his wife and two small children.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Summitville Church. Interment at Phillipsport Phillipsburg. (Charles was interred in the Wallkill Cemetery Phillipsburg, Orange County, not Poplar Grove Cemetery Phillipsport. This was verified by Thomas Walker second cousin)

Mr. Walker was married February 1st, 1912, at Monticello to Lottie C. Ramsey, who survives with two children, Virginia R., aged 3 and Albert C., aged 7 months. The parents and a brother, Frank U., of Summitville, also survive.

The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church, and of Wallkill Council, No. 92, Jr. O. U. A. M., of Middletown, and of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ramsey and daughter, Miss Mildred, of Monticello, who are related to the deceased, attended the funeral.

Thanks for sending me the Times Herald Record article about the death of Bob Ehlers. I actually have the newspaper article. Bob was my mom's first cousin and she traveled from Jacksonville, Florida to attend his funeral. She said it was one heck of a wake!

Thanks for trying to photo the request above. I thought a marker would have been there by now. If you see the marker in the future, I would appreciate the photo. Rocco passed away in July of this year.
