Matilda Robbins
I found the family of Shedrick Robbins (Robens) in the 1850 census for Hopewell Township of Licking Co, OH. He has a sister, Matilda, right age to be the Matilda Robbins, wife of John A Leonard. I can email you the census image or you can look it up. what threw me before was the census taker had written their surname as Robens. As Peter Wright Edgell's mother married Shedrick Robbins in 1874, it is likely that Peter and Martha would meet by that close family relation. It would also seem likely that Peter would not abandon or divorce Martha. Again, I suspect death probably in childbirth.

The family has:

Samuel - 40 b PA
Nancy - 28 b VA
Matilda - 9 b. OH
James - 6 b. OH
Shedrick 1, b OH

Peter Edgell
I have added a photo to Peter's Find A Grave memorial and a link to the memorial for his third wife, Xenia. Another photo has been added there too.

I have been trying to find the Robbins connection. Both Shedrick and Matilda were born in Licking Co., OH. Shedrick's parents are Samuel and Nancy Feagans Robbins.

If you email me, I can pass on the marriage certificate for Peter Edgell and Martha Leonard if you do not have it. Sounds like you have been to the Barnes Cemetery.

RL (Bob) Nielsen
RE: Braucher-Miller Cemetery

The GPS coordinates are correct (40.08883 -89.39774). If you open up a Google Maps session in its own browser window and use those coordinates, the green arrow that displays is the actual location of the cemetery (ignore the red "marker" that Google adds that wants to force you to a street location, also ignore Google's icon for the cemetery because it is not in the correct location). If you zoom in closely, you can pick out the grassy/weedy fence line of the cemetery in the image south of the green arrow.

The current Google Maps satellite image shows a grassy waterway heading east from 1000th Ave. towards the woods that contain the cemetery. I parked along the road, walked to the edge of the woods via the waterway, and then along the south side of the woods until I got to the cemetery. Once you get there, the cemetery is obvious (and fairly well-maintained).

Hope this helps.

RE: Peter Edgell
Ira was Peter's brother. I am thinking possibly a death from childbirth for Martha. Peter is buried in Union cemetery in West Lincoln. Please feel free to email me.

Peter Edgell
You might be interested to learn that Peter Wright Edgell's parents were Barton and Nancy Jane Wright Edgell. Barton died in 1870 and Nancy Jane Edgell married Shedrick Robbins b. in Ohio Dec 1846. Could he be related to Matilda Robbins, Martha Leonard's mother?

Peter and Martha
Peter and Martha Edgell are found in the 1880 census of Corwin Township, Logan Co., IL on page 113 A in the next household to that of John A. Leonard and his wife Matilda. Are these the parents of Lucinda Leonard?

Peter Edgell
Mistake. The marriage was in 1879.

Peter Edgell
Thank you for your question about Peter Wright Edgell, my first cousin, twice removed. I do have that his first marriage was to a Martha Ann Leonard.

I have their marriage on 22 Mar 1878 in Middletown, Logan Co., IL. I do not know what happened to her. Peter had two additional marriages. With his third wife, he had a son. I have contact with the descendants of that son
