|Kathy Merris Mills||RE: Valentin Leonard's Parents|
I appreciate the offer Gary but I am not related to the Leonards. You might want to send me an edit I can attach to his memorial stating you have proof of his parentage if you want....for others who are searching.

|Bob Ramsey||West Family Tree|
I'm trying to locate a copy of "The West Family Tree", by Sam West published by him around 1955. Do you know where I might locate a copy?
Thank you for your assistance.

|Tricia G||Valentine Leonard|
I believe I descend from John George Leonard (1781-1844) son of Valentine Leonard and Anne Catherine Sowers as per the following website:
John George Leonard and Barbara Weavil's daughter Elizabeth (Betsey) Leonard is shown to have married Daniel Johnson and I believe them to be my 3rd great grandparents if this information is correct. I've long known Daniel Johnson married an Elizabeth (Betsy) Leonard but didn't know who her parents were.
Do you have any records that would support this?

Great picture. I thought you might like to know that Pennsylvania, Veteran Compensation Application Files, WWII, 1950-1959 show Robert and Florence living in the Welch's Trailer Court in Laurel, Anne Arundel, County Maryland. He was stationed at Fort Meade.
I also found Robert's Obituary. It makes interesting reading because it fully describes his Army service in the Philippines including his capture by the Japanese and imprisonment in the Philippines and Japan. BTW I haven't heard from Karen in a long time. Wondered if she is okay. I know she had a stroke a few years ago. Do you still live in Texas. Also last week the Daily Oklahoman had an article about the 1909 Lynching on the front page. Apparently they have moved the monument to a cemetery outside Ada city limits. I typed it out and put it on my facebook page for the West family. It was in the Sunday paper, Feb 8th I think. You might want to read it.

|Sylvia Moore||ULYSSESS CLAIBORNE VERDINAN WEST|
Gary, It's been awhile since I talked to you. You have on Mary Elizabeth Smith Allgood that she married Claiborne West and had 10 kids. I think I found out since I talked to you that Claiborne actually wound up marrying Mary's daughter, Rosie Allgood after Mary died and they had 10 kids.. He was also married before to Susannah Harvey and had children... Anyway this is what I have posted on Claiborne Find A Grave site.
Claiborne West was my paternal grandfather. He died when my father was 2 years old so I don't have a lot of information on him. I have found that he was married to Susanah Harvey in 1866 and they had the following children: Willie N and Mary Florence. After Susanah died, Claiborne married Mary Elizabeth Smith Allgood. From this marriage came: J N "Willie" West, Olivia Abashabee "Ollie", and Elvira Melvina "Evie". Mary had a child, Wyatt Rosetta Eugenia Allgood, by an earlier marriage to Wyatt Allgood. After Mary's death, Claiborne married her daughter Rosetta "Rosie" and they had the following children: Euther Houston "SON", Alonzo Walker Sylvester "Lon", Daisy, Anna, Jess J, Sampson P "Sam", Verdie, William Lee "Bill" and Charlie Harold "Doc". Claiborne died around Atoka, Oklahoma but we have no idea where he is buried.

Dear Gary Leonard,
I am a decendent of Valentine Leonhardt and I am looking for any information I can find to trace this geneology.
I am aware of where he was born, died, the Torries, the monument, etc. So, any other info you have would be most helpful.
My 4 x great grandfather

Corrections made, Links added. I always try and find a reliable source when folks send me information. thus the reason you found my message to another contributor.. Some contributors are better than others when it comes to source material.. I just remember my great aunt always saying "without a source its heresy" I don't usually hold a persons feet over the fire, If they are comfortable with the source material they are sending me, I just try to verify the source and move on.

I have updated Serintha's memorial page with the information you sent. Perhaps David Woody 76684062 is related to this family since he sent me a change for George Lowe last night. Thanks for the information.

|Smilydino||RE: Hazel Nora Haralson|
I agree with your updated info and have corrected accordingly. As for more info, I would be glad to put any update on where she exactly died. If she died in Amarillo, she could have been in one of two counties. Any other info like death certificates or census records simply clutters up the memorial page and is discouraged by Find A Grave and many members, including myself.
Thank you for your info and welcome to Find A Grave.
