Caleb Mead
Do you happen to be a direct line Mead male descendant?

I need to find a direct line male Mead descendant for DNA testing to determine if my Louie Bowen Mead is in fact a Mead descendant or if he was taken by the Mead family as a child. I have a census where he is listed as an adopted son but others believe his father may be one of the sons of Amos Jefferson Mead and I need a direct line Mead male descendant to uncover the truth once and for all.

I accepted your edit for Caleb.

What more can you tell me about the Mead family?

Are you Mead related?

A few days ago, I accepted an edit for Caleb Mead from someone else that gave his father as Abner Mead. Are you saying that there is no proof that Abner Mead is the father of Caleb Mead?

John Narramore - Mount Hope Cemetery

You recommended that I contact Mount Hope Cemetery for a plot number.

Unfortunately, while he is buried there, all they have for him under the plot number is a series of hash marks, the date he died: 6 JAN 1864, he eas 85 years, 10 months and 22 days, his C.O.D. was diabetes and his last known street address Scion street.

It was indicated that there are a family of Naramores located in Range 3 Lot 247 SW Corner. However, she seems to feel that he won't be located among those Naramores. Their names are:

Charles, Henry, C. Raymond, Douglas, Grace & Josephine.

There is also a family of Webbs there and there are Webbs in the family, just not sure if it's any of these as I haven't gotten around to researching the Webbs.

Their names are:

William H.
Charles V.

Sorry I can't provide further details.

Thanks. :)

Mount Hope online
Most of Mount Hope's records are on-line complete with maps down to plot maps for the ranges and alphabetical sections.
Do like your virtual cemeteries - great idea doing by generation.
Enjoy your spring, Ann

You are welcome. Green Ridge is a gigantic cemetery and it was like finding a needle in a haystack but I took a neighbor to practice driving there and found it by chance.

My mom's grandmother was Lena L. Johnson, b. 21 Oct 1878, Clarendon, Calhoun, Michigan; d. 17 Jul 1953, bd. Sunset View Cem., Jonesville, Hillsdale, Michigan; md. Edson J. Gilmer, 29 Dec 1897. Lena also lived later on with my grandparents in Lansing.

The Gilmers owned and operated the Gilmer Hotel in Jonesville until he died in 1932. Lena was the youngest daughter and was born after her father died from consumption at the age of 39.

-Rhoda A. Johnson, b. 1864 Clarendon, Calhoun, Michigan; d. 15 Aug 1884 Clarendon, Calhoun, Michigan; m. William A. Keay, 21 May 1883, Jackson, Jackson, Michigan

RE: Daniel Johnson family
I believe you're right about Sarah Ann Brooks not being a sister. Her 1880 census says her parents were both born in NY, not Rhode Island and Connecticut.

RE: Daniel Johnson family
Philander Brooks was an early settler in Convis tonwship, north of Marshall, where he married Mary Moss. Her sister Frances Caroline Moss, who married Simeon Warren, was my great-great-grandmother Alice Warrren Johnson's mother. Alice and her sister Olive were raised by their aunt Mary Moss Brooks and uncle Philander Brooks.
But I always wondered how Alice met John Johnson. If John's mother Sarah Ann Brooks Johnson is the sister to Philander, Whaley, and Milo who all lived in Clarendon, that would make sense. Whaley was my clue, as he lived in both Clarendon and Castleton.
So it appears that Alice married her uncle Philander's nephew, and John married his aunt's niece (by marriage of course).

Daniel Johnson family
Great photograph. I believe this is my family, that John Johnson, son of Daniel, is my great-great-grandfather, who lived in Clarendon, Calhoun, Michigan on the Philander Brooks property.
