Donna, so sorry that I did not see that you had sent another message to me. Anyway, I now understand the family lineage: Mr. Summerlin was married to your current Mother-in-law, they had a child, Donald Glenn (Wolf) Summerlin. Later your Mother-in-law remarried and she and her new husband had a child, David Medford who is your husband. Am I right so far? Here is what I found today on Mr. Summerlin. Go to Google, type in William Thomas Summerlin, hit search, scroll down to the 9th subject line and open. Hope this is your person and good luck.
Best wishes, Richard

Donna, So sorry, but as I suspected the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery would not release any additional info. on Mr. Summerlin other than what is shown on his temporary or permanent grave markers. This is because I am not a relative of Mr. Summerlin. I did note however, that the date of birth on the gentleman I memorialized was 1934 and you stated that the gentleman you were searching for was born November 21, 1956, this makes your guy 22 years younger than the gentleman I photographed.
Wish I could have helped you more. Richard

Dear Donna, I am a full time Park Ranger at a State Park directly across the highway from the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Al. Several years ago I became a Find A Grave volunteer. I usually try to stop at the VA Cemetery at least once each week either before I go to work or on my way home after a work day.

I do not know much personally about Mr. Summerlin other than what can be gleaned from his Temporary and permanent grave markers. As you can see, he died on 22 Apr. 2015, was buried on 28 Apr. 2015, I took the initial photo of his temporary grave marker on 30 Apr. 2015 and at the same time made a memorial page for him because no one else had created one for him at that time. Later when his permanent grave marker was installed I again photographed that and entered it into the Find A Grave data base.

Now, if you would like, I will try to obtain more information from the cemetery (if they will release that info to me). Hopefully they will assist me, I consider the Director, the Asst. Director, and the Records Administrator at the cemetery to be friends, I don't know what they consider me but they have put up with me since before the cemetery interred the first occupant.

Let's stay in touch. Richard

There doesn't seem to be a way to send you a private message or I would give you my email and phone. Let me know how we can find out if we went to school together without the whole world knowing, lol.

I'm still on Ancestry and all is well...........

Thank you SO much Donna!!! That photo is BEAUTIFUL! Made me cry, lol. I may have more requests in the near future. I'm moving so fast with my family tree at Ancestry that I get ahead of myself sometimes so I'm trying to slow down. I know I will need a few more I just need more details on where to find them at. A couple of them I don't know the name of the Cemetery and then one is in Vanceboro area. That one is a Mills family cemetery. Is Vanceboro an option for you?

Thanks a MILLION! I'm in your debt.

Barb

PS I went to school with some Haskins in New Bern. Do I know you from High School maybe? Name sounds familiar.

Thank you SO much for claiming my request. I did not get an email from you like I thought I would. I'm new here so I don't really know what to expect, lol. That cemetery is a tad difficult to navigate but I "think" I remember the headstone be "near" a statue? I've been able to get home in quite a few years.

Again, thanks for your help.

RE: Hunnings
I document cemeteries by photographing all the markers in a cemetery by walking row-by-row, section-by-section.
There is no way to determine if a marker is a pre-need marker. If it is there, I document it along with whatever information is on the marker.
If someone informs me that it is a pre-need marker, I add that information to the memorial.

Hi Donna,

Thank you! Sometimes the VA transcribers get things a little turned around. It should be Rudolph William Safran. I've fixed it on the memorial.

Warm regards,
Joan

SORRY
Donna I have very few photos of Haddocks. Just 2 of my grandfather William David and 1 of his father Calvin Cash Haddock. I do love old photos. I do wish our ancestors had made more.

I believe that I am a descendant from Jesse Hawkins. I live in Illinois though. My grandmother was a Martha Ann Hawkins daughter of William Hawkins and Serena Millen. Jody

Grannie Ti (as everyone at First Assembly-Smithfield knew her) was the 1st person I met when I first attended First Assembly in Smithfield. She was like a mother to me and my boys.
When she moved to Virginia, I lost track of her. My husband & I both kept asking each other if she was still living. I knew I had to search for the answer.
She was loved by everyone and I know without a doubt she is rejoicing with her heavenly Father.

Donna,
Is this the Talitha Skinner that lived in Smithfield, NC for years and then moved to Virginia?

Donna,
Please use the "edit" function to send the information you would like to post. You don't have to "maintain" the memorial to do so.

John Banks died on January 10, 1928. He was born on January 10, 1928.

Sorry I was so long in looking this up. This site does have mistakes. I don't think anyone is maintaining it. I have sent corrections several times to no avail. I imagine the death cert. is correct. She could have been named Johnnie. Some girls were.

Hope this helps. We are definitely related. My dad 54752495, favors William Nasby 16221578 a lot.
