Tom Saltsman
Alsman / Saltsman connection
Thanks for the information. It's great.

I'm Tom Saltsman of San Antonio, TX (b,1952 in Sacramento, CA). You can find me as a contributor on Find A Grave.

Years ago, Glen Allsman (yes, with two "L"s!) Fowler (b. 1918) of Lincoln City, Oregon, told me that Andrew Alsman, grandfather of the other Andrew Alsman of Palmyra Massacre fame, was the son of my 5ggf Wilhelm Saltzman. This Andrew Saltsman/Satzman changed his surname to Alsman.

It seems Wilhelm's son Andrew went down to Kentucky after arriving on the Edinburgh, captained by James Russell, into Philadelphia, PA, on Monday, September 16, 1751. I have a copy of the ship's log where one can see the name of Wilhelm Saltsman.

I'm curious. How did you find the place of Andrew's birth?

Flower token
You had left a flower on the page for Evan Slater Linn, and since you did, I just added the complete obituary to his page. You may want to copy it for your family history.
Best regards,

Tracy Alsman
Alsman family history

I am an Alsman that grew up in Sullivan, IN. I have went back as far as "Stonewall"Alsman in my research. My maternal grandmother found history tracing back all the way to Prussia era. I do not have that history with me, since I recently moved.

I am so happy to see how much history you have documented on this website. I would like to know which state this Alsman cemetery is near Raymond Alsman's farm. My great grandfather, Edward Alsman, who was married to Julia Bennett, changed the spelling of our name from Allsman to Alsman at some point before I was born in the 1960's. If you have any information about the Bennett's, I would greatly appreciate it. She passed away when my grandfather was 6 years old and the Bennett's stopped associating with the Alsman's from that point.

There is a cemetery near Sullivan that has quite a few Alsman's that I know nothing about. I have pictures of their grave markers if you would like me to post them.

Peleg Gorton
Hello Chris; Thanks for the info on Peleg. He would be my 5th great grandfather. I was looking for a military connection and here it is! I also work on my family history. Just started on this line. I am a guide at Fort Niagara, and have found some of my other ancestors were connected there. Is there any info on Pelegs record? I don't live to far from the Stueben County area, just outside of Buffalo, N.Y. I would appreciate any info on him. Thanks again. Sharon W.

Chris - I would be glad to transfer this memorial, as I am actually related on the Richardson side of the family. Please request the transfer using the edit button and include your Find A Grave number, as it makes it much easier. Also just FYI, alot of people will not transfer if you don't use the edit button, so its a good idea to always request transfers that way:).. also, I would love to swap family info if you have more info on the Richardson side of the family.. look forward to hearing from you, Toni

RE: James Mason - 73465788

I have Cinthia Mason's death certificate, and her parents are listed as Amos St. Clair (which later became Sinclair) and Agness McCrarey, both born in Kentucky. I believe Andrew Allsman was Cinthia's grandfather, but I can't connect the McCrarey/Allsman link. I would love to exchange notes with you if you can send an e-mail address.

RE: James Mason - 73465788
Hello Chris,

Yes,James Mason and Cinthia (Sinclair/St. Clair) Mason are husband and wife. I have seen Cinthia's name spelled a number of different ways. They are the parents of Mary, Sarah, Eveline, Rose, & John, as well as Elizabeth, who was my great, great grandmother. I haven't had too much luck tracing the Allsman/Sinclair/McCreery families, so any information you can share I would really appreciate. I believe I have a group photo of James and Cinthia's children that I would be happy t
to send to you. How are you related in this line?

RE: Addendum ...

Thanks for the information and update. I'm not very knowledgable regarding this website, but I don't think I can take over on someone elses contribution. In fact, I'm not sure that I can link over to it. However, I can add photos and reference the record number in my details, which basically is creating a new and more informative record.

I also appreciate your added information. I will do some research along these lines and get everything linked up properly. If I can add or assist you with something let me know.

Love the bike!
