You are welcome, but I'm not sure what you mean by the photos need to be flipped? They show up in the right directions?

Charles Oatman in SpringforddCemetery
I believe I got the burial information from some ancestry information that was typed up a LONG LONG time ago...... I am usually very careful on making sure I know FOR SURE that something is real, but this source looked VERY legit :)

"....Charles (Darius, Benjamin, George, John, Johannes), son of Darius and Jerushia Oatman, was born at Adams Center, Jefferson County, New York, in 1822, and died at Springford, Oxford County, Ontario, 18August 1902. He married, 26 June 1843, Dorliska H., daughter of Benjamin and Betsey Bunce, who was born 14 November 1822, and died 6 November 1909. They are both buried in the Springford Cemetery at Springford, Ontario...."

RE: Oatman/Goodrich/Knight
Ahhh!! I didn't have a second spouse for John Oatman! I only have Jeanette Cooper (spelling?). From Jerusha and Darius, I go:

Darius and Sarah
Norman and Polly (Wilson)
Charles and Carrie (Crampton)
((I was named after Carrie))
Marjorie Oatman (Married LeMieux) maternal grandmother.

It looks like your grandmother is my 3rd cousin 2x removed. That means you would be like a 5th cousin?

I actually LIVE in Lansing. I am also only about 10 minutes from the Library of Michigan:) Their hours are SEVERELY limited (only open like 11-4 M-F), but the next time I get down there, I can see if I can find your grandmother's obituary on the microfilm. Maybe it may say where she is buried?

Hi Linda,

OK, so you didn't get the credit for the volunteer photos because someone else posted theirs first, right? Don't worry about it. If you have a better close up of the marker go ahead and post it. You will still get credit for the photo, just not the volunteer photo.

I think the idea behind "claiming" the photo requests is so people don't duplicate their efforts and both try and take the same pictures. But whichever one posts the photo first gets the volunteer photo credit. If he already had the photo there was nothing you could do about it. And you shouldn't worry about it, you have plenty of other things to do with your time.

Harry Wagner monument photo
I wanted to thank you for the your extra efforts in obtaining the photo for Harry's gravestone. Fortunately, another contributor was able to obtain assistance from a grounds keeper and find the location for their photos. Again, thank you for your help and kind information.

Linda, Sorry I don't know Harrald's wife by any other name but Mary and she died soon after he did. I took her full name from the SSDI on Ancestry. Their dau was also named Mary. Maybe I should take the cem location off until I find more proof. Thank you so much for your help with this family. Janice

E-mail me at and tell me how we are related and I will take it from there. Right now, I don't know who you are, rather than Linda, and I need more information before I will share my files.

RE: Re: Ralph Downing
I'm not saying I won't tranfer, I used to be more flexible until some new members got greedy & just because the surname of the person married into their family but was only distantly related & same person requesting hundreds of memorials with the surname, I had to change to the findagrave guidelines, my intention is to give these to direct descendants to care for rather than remotely related. In your case I am taking that Ralph was a brother of your grandfather. I can bend the guidelines in your case on behalf of your grandfather being a sibling but if a descendant of Ralph comes along & wants to manage the memorial I am hoping you would transfer to them for they would be a closer relationship then you are. If there is none, I would rather a relation like you take care of the memorial.

Re: Ralph Downing
Please state relationship. Family could be any kind of relationship. I only transfer to direct descendants. If they are greats grandparents I will transfer, if it not I will not. I stick to findagrave guidelines & the only other way I transfer to non direct is if no descendants of the person in question.

Hi Linda,

Can you take the marker picture you posted on this one and also post it on 94557769 ? Her legal last name at the time of death was Wright, not Abbott, and I have another memorial for her under that name. Go ahead and leave your memorial up, I'm not sure what the Find A Grave rules are supposed to be but I'm not sure I care, they seem to have no good way of handling someone who has a marker under a surname other than their legal last name so I would just as soon leave both memorials up.

RE: Beatrice M Harbaugh
Hi you are very welcome. Actually Beatrice is in a cremains niche in the Hillview Mausoleum, Niche N4A. Their is a woman, Ella E. Woodruff, in the same cremain niche. I put a new picture on her memorial as well. The unfortunate thing to try and get a real close up picture, is that this niche is about 12' up the wall. If you want a different picture for them both, I will bring in a ladder to get a close up picture. Blessings Jo

Hello! Linda,

Just a quick note! I'm not related to any of the Knight's though, have done extensive work on Gladwin County Record Obituaries & nearly have all the Knight's covered. I'm a Active member of both the Beaverton & Gladwin County, Historical Societies & Gladwin County Genealogical Society, Inc.

There's alot to share... Though, if you wish to read up on (my) work in this Geneaogy Business we share an interest in. Just click-on my Name and I have a Find A Grave Profile. It was done by my Nephew who majored in History at College and he once consider being a teacher. Though, he is now an Editor for the Jack Pine Tribune Newspaper.

I have a fantastic Yahoo Group if interested at: & my current project is: Scanning in all the BHS & GHS Yearbooks. Nice to meet you!!!
