RE: Neely Graves, Dempsey Town, Pa.
I'm plugged into Scouting and the Scouts here do a great job when they actually take on a cemetery. Getting them to do it when they have so much else to do is the key! I've been trying to get the local Scouts to do Gilson Ridge Cemetery (look it up here) for two years or so. And GR is in just as bad condition as Neely. Too many abandoned cemeteries around here and no one taking care of them. Tombstones are actually historical markers and would have archaeological value many years from now. I think they should be protected and supported as such.

You're most welcome! The Carter-Neely Cemetery was DIFFICULT to find. We lucked upon it one day in the woods. It REALLY needs some attention if the property owner would grant permission. Otherwise these graves will be lost. And I'm not sure we photographed all of them. There may be more that have been covered by years of dead leaves. I'll help if I can. The rest of the Neelys have been easy!
