RE: Kimbrel Family
Denver is my Dad. I was trying to plug a few gaps regarding the oldest Kimbrel brother, James Walker Kimbrel, Jr., mainly spousal names, especially his second wife, and any children he may have. If you have any information, or can point me in the right direction, it will be greatly appreciated.

Re: James Walker & Clarence Denver Kimbrel

I can only presume you are the son or grandson of James Walker Kimbrel, Jr. He was my father's older brother. I have very little information regarding "Uncle Jimmy" and his family. Please contact me at: I am trying to plug some holes in my family tree.

I hope you and yours are doing well. Have not heard much from you lately.

I will be happy to add Mr. Cooks father, when you provide me a source for it. I no longer edit anything without some way to back it up. Once I added a lady and then 3 granddaughters from 3 different children, all disagreed with her nickname. None of them were even closely related. So I went looking for something to satisfy my mind, as a nickname. Her name was Sarah Frances and she went by Frances, but, all census, etc. showed her as Fanny. So, since that is the name she used, that is the nickname I gave her. Told the grandchildren there was no other fair way to settle it. To use the nickname she used herself.

Will look forward to a source to prove his parents. Many thanks,

Winnette Stinson

I do not know why the link that I attached did not work but this is the article that was attached to the link I shared. No mention of Reverend.

Richard's Story

JACKSONVILLE, FL: Richard M. Kimball passed away on Sunday, July 19. He leaves behind his beloved wife, the former Patricia Connolly. He was the son of Phyllis and Warren D'Eon and the late Melvin E. Kimball. He attended Danvers schools, graduating from Shaw Prep of Boston and also attended Boston Art Institute.
Richard is survived by two brothers and their wives, Randall and Donna Kimball of Danvers, and Roger and Lucia Kimball of Bradford; two sisters, Jane Maihos of Danvers and Lorraine Cody of Salem; two daughters, Claire Gardner of New Zealand and Gail Amancio of Peabody.
His lifelong hobby was collecting, studying and preserving insects, snakes, turtles and frogs. He also had a lifelong love of the ocean and built his own boats.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Danvers at date to be announced in the near future.

Phyllis Kimball
Ralph, I saw you could not find information regarding Melvin E Kimball's wife. I know this is a long time since you posted about it, but her name is Phyllis Deon now. She remarried after Melvin's death. She will be 96. I hope this helps.

RE: Phone Number
Am especially interested in seeing if Laverne has information about Haywood's wife, Sophronia. Ancestry records list her as a Rhodes, but I'm having a hard time believing she left SC on her own and moved to Ga, when the rest stayed put.

None of it makes much sense, plus when she died. Malcom's memorial to her states she didn't die until 1937, making her close to 90ys old.. another enigma.

RE: Haire Family tree
Hi Ralph... no need to transfer anything if you plan to add the data. I only wanted to try and link the family together as best I could. Like you said, with you having management, it will be easier if you do it.

I only stumbled across them late last night, and was pleasantly surprised to find what I did.. Find A Grave pictures make them more alive to me.

I'm planning to attend a Hair/Haire reunion, April 2 in Colquitt..(my first). Hopefully I'll have lots more info to give you afterwards.

Thank you much!

Haire Family tree
I am a descendant of the Haire family, and if no one is managing that line, would you mind transferring it to me. I have information that needs to link family members together.
Thank you..

RE: Mistakes
Thanks. I added a note to Julia Ann (Hooks) Sheffield's memorial stating that basis her parents marriage date, she was more likely born in 1831 or 1832.

Julia Ann (Hooks) Sheffield - Additional Data
Just looked on and found a more accurate marriage date for Julia's parents. Here's the information:

> Name: Alston Hooks
> Spouse: Elizabeth Forehand
> County of Marriage: Leon
> Marriage Date: 1 Mar 1831
> Source: Dodd, Jordan R, et. al., Early American Marriages: Florida to 1850.
> Source Information: Florida Marriage Indexes, 1822-1875 and 1927-2001 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Operations Inc, 2006.

Looks like Julia was born in 1831 or 1832 which also better agrees with her census records.

I have changed her birth date to agree with the newer tombstone. However, you may want to know the following information which says the newer birth date may be wrong regarding the year:

> Tombstone date Dec 25, 1829 seems in error basis all her census data and her parents marriage date (Feb 21, 1830 in Leon County, FL).
> --------
> 1860 Census of Hardin County, TX., Sheet 337A, household 37, age 29 making birth about 1831 GA.
> --------
> 1870 Census of Hardin County, TX., Sheet 463B, household 185, age 35 making birth about 1835 GA.
> --------
> 1880 Census: District 29, Hardin County, TX, age 48 making birth about 1832 FL.
> Source: FHL Film 1255308 National Archives Film T9-1308 Page 418C
> --------
> 1910 Census, 5th precinct, Tyler County, TX; Series: T624 Roll: 1594 Page: 258, HH3, age 79 making birth about 1831, FL.
> --------

It's more likely that Julia was born in 1930 or 1931 (being born in December the censuses often show as being born the following year).

Mr. Kimbrel, I cannot connect siblings. As long as they are both connected to their parents, they will be shown as siblings. If you will provide the memorial numbers for his mother and his father, I will gladly link them for you.

You are very welcome. I believe in sponsoring both my wife and my direct ancestors. In this case, Richard Kimball is my wife's 10th GGF. By sponsoring our ancestors, I hope to keep this great service free. now owns this site, and it could become an added profit center for them but I hope that by enough people sponsoring memorials that this will not happen.

Thank you for the creation of his memorial.
