I don't have much on them, just his parents' names and that he was born in North Carolina and died in McMinn County, Tennessee. I'm the great-great-great grandson of their son Elijah West.

I think you are mistaken as to who his wife was.

According to the document, "Tennessee State Marriages, 1780-2002," W.R. Hatcher married Mira SNEED on June 25,1871 in Monroe County. Even the drawing of her states the her name was "Myra Snead Hatcher," although her maiden name was misspelled. She was one of my ancestors.

If you'd prefer I could contact you by e-mail.

RE: Hatcher Geneology

I'm sorry to have muddied the waters further. I must have had other Hatchers on the brain when I wrote you. There are some from Sevier County, Tennessee, including a William Hatcher, but I don't have anything that links those Hatchers to yours.

Have the DNA test results come back yet? With all the work on Hatcher DNA, test results would certainly seem likely to provide a direction for further research.

Very best regards,

(out of town again!)

Anita, what do you need, cause there already is a photo of the grave stone.
Let me know if there is more you need and I will gladly take care of it. Cemetery isn't 10 minutes from where I live.
God bless

I can't transfer your uncle to you, as I've already transferred his memorial to a friend, so I can have more time with my grandkids. I'm still in the process of transferring all of my memorials to my friend. You will need to ask my friend whose name is on the memorial.

RE: Hatcher Geneology

I'm sorry I don't have anything more on "your" Hatcher line. Although I'm fairly active with the Hatcher Families Genealogy Association (treasurer and web site assistant), I haven't done much of any original work on the Hatchers. So many others have already done so much that there's little left that a dabbler like me could do.

Do you know if anyone's done much with wills and deeds for this bunch? Mind, that seems an obvious place to go, so perhaps it's been done long since. On the other hand, this is such a small, disconnected branch of the family that I can imagine it's not been a major focus of Nel and Cecil's energy.

I assume there are no known male Hatcher descendants available for DNA testing.

(shortly later) I thought that Sevier County, Tennessee sounded familiar, so I dug through my GEDCOM file. I do NOT see the county listed in any record I have. I must have conflated a couple of other thoughts, or remembered something associated with some Hatcher family work, like find-a-grave headstone photo hunting.

Sorry I can't offer any more immediate assistance!

Very best regards,

P. S. Where do you live? I assume Sevier County isn't conveniently nearby...

RE: Hatcher Geneology
Hi Anita,

I didn't off-hand know, so checked the Hatcher Family Association database. It turns out that Nancy C. Hatcher and William Watson are on the "unconnected" list of Hatchers. I don't see this William Watson in my list of near relations. I'm away from home at the moment, so can't check my other resources there to see if I can turn up this couple.

RE: William Riley Hatcher and Mira Adaline Hatcher
I have also been doing research on Ancestory and are the same names I come up with and I think even some documents but it has been a while since I have been on there. So I wouldn't be able to tell what ones. Until later anyways when I have time to look some more. Thank you for getting back to me.

RE: William Riley Hatcher and Mira Adaline Hatcher
Well my grandmother's maiden name was Hatcher. Her mother was Johnnie Bell Hickey Hatcher and father was John Hatcher. I was told William Riley Hatcher was my great great grandfather and Mira was my great great grandfather.
