RE: Hiram DeWitt
You're welcome. He is some kind of distant relative of mine as well but not in my direct ancestry. More than willing to transfer to a closer relative.

Re Catherine's birthdate
In her obit it says that Catherine is 92. She died in May 1972 so that would make her birthdate 1880 only she died in May and her birthday is in December so she would have born in 1879 and in Dec she would have turned 93. I changed her memorial date to Dec. 14, 1979 which would make her 92 until Dec.

Albert & Sarah Thomas
Hi! In regards to your photo request, can you please call the cemetery and obtain the grave location (Section & Lot numbers) and ask them whether or not there is a grave marker? Please post this information to the memorial or send it to me.

Forest Home Cemetery: 708-366-1900 or 773-287-0772

Forest Home is a huge cemetery with well over 70,000 burials, and the information is needed in order to find someone there and take a photo of a grave. I go here regularly, and since August I have found over 200 graves at Forest Home that had the location information provided. Thank you! Ace

Re: Catherine Honath
Hi, I found a picture of Catherine and Albert's headstone that I took in 2007 and I added them to their memorials. Also found one for their daughter Carmen and her husband Clyde Heim and added it to their memorials. Haven't found anyone who can get to the cemetery yet but I'm still working on it.

Re: Catherine Honath
I'm related to the Honath family. Catherine's husband Albert is my grandmother, Emma Honath's brother. My great uncle.
I found Catherine's parents on and that is where it says they were both buried in Oakridge in the Illinois death index.
Thank you for letting me know about the wrong dates, I've corrected them.

Re: Catherine Honath
I added Catherine's siblings names but can't figure out how to link them. I also added a memorial for Catherine's parents Joseph Sr and Anna Wolflick. It added Catherine's link as their daughter but not the other children and I can't figure out how to add them. Also in my family tree I have an Illinois death index that lists Anna's maiden name as Drichnen. Since I'm not really sure of her maiden name I included both names I have for her. Also would you happen to have any photos of Catherine? Thanks for your suggestion, I had Catherine's name spelled correctly in my family tree, don't know how I misspelled it on here.

Ernest McDaniel
I would agree with you that Ernest is Jessie's father. He could have not came back to Nebraska after the war and started a new life or he and Dora may have divorced and the family did not want the stigma of that and said he never returned from the war. You might contact Linda Kachel she, put pictures of the McDaniel family on his parents memorials. If you haven't already, try contacting the county in Nebraska to see if you can find any marriage or divorce records. Good Luck.

RE: photo requests
It makes me sad to see no headstones on any grave. I have one in my family and I'm determined to have something done. I was surprised that the Gaumer headstone hadn't been engraved. It's a beautiful stone and I'm sure the final engraving was paid for with the stone. Someone in the immediate family might need a "reminder".

Where are you located? I feel like I have photographed half your family in the past few days. Ha. I also took pictures of some other stones near your family stones so I am also adding them.

RE: Dixon DeWitt
Not much info really but I have had that picture for years. I copied the photo you had posted for Mary Miller. She was my GGM. Most of my DeWitt relatives live in Salina, Kansas where she is buried. Found a census record, 1930 I believe, that showed her as the manager of a poultry farm, but also indicated she was unable to read or write. I love the photo of her. My mom looks so much like her as does my grandfather Charles and his brother Bill. I have traced the Dewitts all the way back to Holland. Are you a member of

RE: Daniel Gaumer and Johann Jacob Gaumer
Thanks for the update. When time allows I will add the links. I have been trying to get these updated for some time but other research has been more pressing. I am very well informed on the Gaumer line as they and the Shirers came into Bedford county at the same time from Eastern PA, were neighbors, and then together they came into Muskingum where many Gaumers married Shirers and also members of my Werts and Adams lines. I am also friends with an old Gaumer researcher Gil Gaumer who has done a tremendous amount of work on the family. My own database contains many of the Gaumers, and all who descend from Shirer, Werts and Adams connections and their ancestors. I am also the admin for the Muskingum OHGenWeb site, the Muskingum Gen Soc site and the Muskingum mailing list and boards at Rootsweb. You can find my database at:
