Ben, I developed Herbert's memorial a bit, linking him to his wife & father, and also adding the text from his obit. I also just transferred his memorial to you. He is buried New Salem Center Cemetery, but I do see his father (and possibly mother) is buried in Lawrence. Jim

Martha Smith
Hello Ben,
Cemetery records confirm that Martha and Edgar Smith are buried in the same grave, but Martha is not listed on the headstone. She was 83 when she died.

cont..
Also, an elderly couple I met by the road/statue, I asked if they knew where section 1 was, they said they did not know. I asked if they came across the names Smith and they said no, they can't say they have, and was I sure they were buried in the Catholic area ? They pointed across the street ( which was another cemetery entirely ) and said when the Catholic cemetery filled up, they began to bury the caskets across the street there. I did not think that was true, because the Catholic cemetery still has a lot of unclaimed areas left.

Then they asked if the Smiths were Black, becasue back in the day the Black people were buried in the other area of the cemetery ( btw, this place is freaking huge ! and has many areas to cover )...
By then I was worn out from walking and talking to people ( I asked the groundskeepers too but they were Mexican and did not understand me too well ), it was hot and I was thirsty. Hope you have better luck .

RE: Smith Plot - All Souls Cemetry
ok, I know what you are talking about with the angel statue..course I could be wrong but I think it was the Holy family..that area was a bit crowded, I might have overlooked the graves, but I even went back a 2nd time . I have a stiff neck this morning from all the walking around I did yesterday , looking at the ground.

The cemetery is sorta in a bad part of Sanford and I was all alone and felt a bit unease, a few times I would look up and see someone walking thru the cemetery and I was afraid of being mugged. Plus, the catholic cemetery was on the news the day before for someone stealing the brass urns and turning them in for cash at recycling places, so of course a police car was driving by very slowly and checking me out ( I had my camera and the names in a small notebook in case I was detained )

I wish you luck. I will feel stupid if I overlooked it.

Hi, Ben.
Strange ... so she's not buried with her husband? Divorced, perhaps? Otherwise, that's unusual....
Anyway, no problem, I was happy to help. The cemetery is only a couple of miles from me.
Best of luck!
John

RE: Thomas Joseph Fleming / Ruth Evelyn Rumble Fleming
You're welcome. :-)
That's a good idea to follow up with the office. A person I spoke with at the cemetery couldn't find her in their record book, which I thought was odd considering that her husband was there and that you had posted the specific plot locations for both of them. But this was just the "satellite" office for that particular "division" of the cemetery, and they mentioned they could follow-up with their main office. I thanked them and said I would relay the info to you.
Good luck!
John

Headstone photo request for Ruth E. Rumble Fleming
Hi, Ben.
Just a heads-up that I'm getting ready to post some photos to Ruth's memorial, but she does NOT have a headstone. I found a Thomas Fleming in that section, and assumed he might be her husband, and sure enough, now that I'm back at my computer and looking at the entries, I see that they are indeed linked as spouses. There is an open spot on either side of Thomas' marker, so I'm not sure if she's buried to the left of him or the right of him. Either way, she has no marker. Take a look at the photos I'm posting for each of them.
Sorry I wasn't of more help.
Sincerely,
John

Ben, thanks for the tip, this was so simple and they were very accommodating though I did want to ask for more than one person. Maybe another day.
Thanks again, John

Plot location
Ben,
I was wondering how you obtained the plot info for your photo request at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. I have a burial there also, but trying to find plot location.
Thanks.
