RE: William Blanton
No problem, I stay confused. Lol! A headstone for him would be great. I don't know what I was thinking. I should have checked his DC but forgot I had it. Lol! You are very much appreciated. Thank you!

RE: William Blanton
I thought that's where he as buried. I was surprised when Michael said he was buried in KY. If the certificate says that then I'll put him back in Big Run. Thanks so much!

RE: Harley Turner
Hi, Mat. Not a problem - thank you for the transfer. I'll work on updates for this memorial, and plan to visit the 2 graves this summer.

RE: William Blanton
Hi Mat, Thanks. :) I asked my son-in-law & William was taken back to Magoffin Co. when he passed, in a cemetery near Salyersville. I've removed him from Big Run. Hopefully I'll find his grave. Thanks for bringing this to my attention so I could remove him from Big Run.

RE: William Blanton
Hi Mat, I thought I'd tell you I'm trying to locate William's grave. We're meeting up with my daughter & son-in-law tomorrow to look for a couple cemeteries in the woods near where his parent's lived & maybe I can find out more for you. I also wanted to add you have done a great job on transcribing/photographing Big Run. I know it's very much appreciated. Thank you!

RE: William Blanton
According to his family, he is buried there but why a stone can't be found is unknown. He's my son-in-laws great grandfather. William's grandfather was a brother to my 4th gr. grandfather. There are a few indentions in that area but I don't know if one of them is his grave. Sorry I couldn't help.

Duplicate Memorials
I see that you have some duplicate memorials with Sherry Tackett Plowman. Is this allowed under the guidelines of Find A Grave? I have refrained from posting a memorial because I thought so, but if it's allowed, I would like to post a couple where there is no
activity (related to me) or the contributor will not respond.

Then we must be related because I have many of the same ancestors as she does. However, I can not get her to respond to questions I have.
My 4th great-grandparents are Thomas & Letty Durham Howard.

RE: Elza Tackett
Hi Mat,

Don't know if you are familiar with Ashland KY?
My Dad was born there so I am pretty familiar with the area. My aunt lived pretty close to Dixon. I live in Ohio, though.

Dixon is actually in Westwood.

It is right past Fairview High School and behind the Westwood Boys and Girls Club; 2224 Main St. ASHLAND KY 41102. If you put that address in a GPS, it will take you to the entrance of the cemetery.

Another landmark is Caniff Funeral Home. Their address is 528 Wheatley Rd, Ashland, KY 41101. Main Street is almost right in front of the funeral home. There is a gas station in front of Caniff's and they could tell you which direction to go to get there.

Let me know if you need more specifics. I saw a Charles Tackett created another memorial & had linked a lot of family so I deleted mine.

I had a listing from the Boyd Co Library and listed people that I didn't find when I photo'd the entire cemetery.

There are a lot of Tackett's in the very back section. Any that I have a photo of their headstone, let me know & I can tell you "about" where they are located.

Hassell Howard
I am sorry that I didn't explain better in the last message. This Hassell is not the brother of Alka Howard or Harlan Howard, nor is he the son of Asa and Cinda.

This is not my uncle. I did not look before I left a memorial. My uncle lived in Fairborn, Ohio and was buried there. He died after I was grown and I was only 9 years old in 69. Could you please correct this. Thank You.

RE: Smith-Pixley

Might be hard to find a direct descendant of those buried there ....but they can contact me if it would help...

I heard that the cemetery had issues about stones falling down the bank , and I heard that the genealogy society was aware of it...hope that they can assist in the problem..

If I can help in any way , feel free to pass my email along to those that need it...and I will be happy to respond.

Matt, you might want to try my sister for directions. I'm sure she can give a more detailed way of getting to the cemetery behind Whitehouse than I can. Her name is Sandra and her email address is
Just tell her that her brother sent you and that you want directions to the cemetery hill that Col. John VanHoose is buried in. Bill

RE: Smith-Pixley

I am related to the family buried at Smith- Pixley Cemetery. Hezekiah Smith , was a brother of my 4 x great grandmother Hannah ( Smith ) Hayward . This would make Hezekiah my 4th great grand uncle & his children buried there at the Cemetery would all be a degree of cousin to Me...

I haven't been to the Cemetery yet , however I have found the location and plan to get there as soon as possible. The cemetery is very close to the banks of the Ohio River , and in danger of the stones sliding down the banks. I hope to record the gravestone info & take photos before it is too late.

RE: Van Hoose Cemetery
Matt, I made the transfer of the requested memorials. Regarding directions to the cemetery....the graves are scattered over a hillside behind Whitehouse, Kentucky and I wouldn't know how to give detailed directions. Your best bet would be to knock on a door in Whitehouse and have them point you to the cemetery that includes Col. John VanHoose. There is a finished path starting at the road at the base of the hill leading up to Col. John's military headstone and most of the other graves are scattered about on the hillside on both sides of the path.

RE: Smith-Pixley cemetery
We are not directly related to the four grave posting in this cemetery however we have worked for years gathering all known genealogy on the entire Pixley Family including all descendants of William Pixley and his wife, Sarah Lawrence.
If you are related we would be willing to share

RE: Smith-Pixley
My husband's family married into the Pixley family of Chenango County, NY. His great uncle married into the Smith family of Broome County, NY and his grandmother's maiden name was Smith (different line from the one above) originally from Susquehanna, PA. To the best of my knowledge this part of the family has no links to OH.
