Hi Randall- I goofed... I did not fulfill your photo request for "Unknown Mark." I just lightened up the existing one... (too cold to get up there now.) I don't think the surname is Mark, I believe it is Jennings...

RE: Rev. John Mark Oswego, KS
Hi,

At least you're a cousin. John Mark is my 2nd great grandfather from his marriage to Mary Anne Breedlove. Where Mary Anne is buried is still a mystery. It's highly suspected that she is buried next to John, but without a headstone. There are no cemetery records showing a site. Which wife do you descend from? Most of my knowledge of John's lineage is from family letters, DAR records, Dill's History of Fayette County, Ohio, a family bible that I have never personally seen and really don't now recall who had it. I'll look into that.

There is supposed to be a record in the library in Fayette County (large area to search) written by Joseph and Matthew Mark told to them by their father Peter of all the children of Joseph and Julia Mark. Peter also listed his siblings and some of their children. Peter was the brother of John Mark, father of the John Mark in question by you.

Perry Watson Mark, son of John, is my great grandfather, born in Missouri and came to California and met and married my great grandmother, Lily Bell Woodward. Their daughter, Myrtle May Mark, is my grandmother, marrying Edward Lewis Cordi. Their son Richard is my father. You can trace all this on Find a Grave.

Much information on John was handed down through the Handley's of Oswego. My grandparents and two sons made frequent visits to see the Hadleys, driving all the way from California in the 1930's. I don't know if you have ever visited Oswego (don't blink), but there is not much left of the original church, if any, John helped start nor the country-famous nursery owned by the Handleys.

I don't know if this is of much help in your quest or not. Good to hear from you.

Dick
