Julia & Vojtech Silha Photo Requests
Hi, I was looking up plot locations for requests today in the cemetery office kiosk.
1. Julia Silha that I found has interment date of Nov 19, 1996, with age at death of 99 years. Is this your person?

2. The kiosk has first name listed as Wojciech instead of Vojtech. Is this your person?

Julia, Lorraine, Joseph & Wojciech are all listed in same plot location, so I think they are probably the ones you are looking for. All of them are in:
Section B Block 4 Lot 29.

Please let me know. Thanks.

RE: Mary Wilcox Memorial
yes, I know. But the large headstone only has the name "WILCOX" on it. nothing else.

RE: Samuel Van Heise
Thanks for the reply. Obituaries can be very helpful in clearing up questions. Though not this one about his name. Kathy

RE: Gallus Engler
Hello Jerry,
Thanks for contacting me.
I deleted the memorial because I did not have a 'definite' burial location. The information I have was from an old church death registry. The document stated the records were 'not' a cemetery registry, but simply, a list of deaths re orded by the church and burials could be anywhere.

As per Find a Grave guidelines, this website is not a 'death registry', it is a 'grave site' registry.

After consulting with other forum members, for their feedback, I decided to purge the majority of my Burial Unknowns.

If you have found proof of burial, it is your call to add it.

Samuel Van Heise
Please check the name. Is Samuel Van Lear Heise correct? Is Heise the last name? I deleted mine, but please correct so others can find his memorial. The headstone appears to have Van Heise. Thanks, Kathy

RE: Philip Silha
It’s also possible that, over time, the marker has been buried, although there’s usually some small sign that one is there. I’ll try to do more checking when the weather gets better. As info——Phillip’s burial site (Range 18, Space 14A) is just a few steps west of the small marker in the photo (Range 19, Space 14A). The photo faces West.

RE: Philip Silha
Hello Jerry:

Sorry to report that we could find no grave marker for Philip Silha in Block 7 Large, Range 19, Space 14-A. I’ve added a photo to his memorial showing the general area of Space 14-A. The burial site should be just beyond the small gray marker in the foreground of the photo.

I hope this helps in some small way.

RE: Russell & Betty Buss Memorials
No. I can't re-orient the Russel and Betty Buss photo. I think that the way Find A Grave has the web page laid out, it seems to post landscape photos on end. I tried this three times in the field today and it did not work so I posted what i had because that's better than no photo. You could have a smaller (portrait) photo that is oriented correctly or a better larger better quality photo that is on-end. I opted for on-end; sorry - I'd do it if I could.

You're welcome. Sorry there wasn't any more information on that headstone for you. I will keep an eye out as I go through the cemetery for the other family members you have requests for.

St Adalbert Cemetery-More Silhas
Hi Jerry-I found Anna Silha and she has another person with her. She is on the same monument as Jakub(1861-1936) and Katerina (1861-1943) Silha(who already have photos). The extra person on Anna's side of the monument is Jerry B. Silha (1892-1956). Also, although some of the memorial pages have the location for this monument listed as Section St Josaphat, Block E, Lot 7, it is actually in the St Josaphat section but in Block E1 and Lot 10. There is a ground marker right next to it so I'm pretty sure on the location...Mary

RE: St Adalbert Cemetery-Holas Monument
Hi Jerry-The database listed them as Silha so the lookup was not bad. They're just listed with the y on the stone. I checked the stone carefully and the other sides are blank. As you can see the bottom of the monument is a rough concrete so I got out my high intensity flashlight to be sure that neither it or the other sides had writing on them. I'm confident that the only writing is on the two sides I gave you...Mary

St Adalbert Cemetery-Holas Monument
Hi again Jerry-I filled your request for Joseph (Josef) Holas. I also put pictures on his wife, Mary's page. There are several more Holas family members on the monument including Josef's parents:
Jan Holas (Mar 20, 1839-Jan 3, 1899) and Josefa Holas (1839-1920)
and Josef's brother and sister:
Vincent J. Holas (Nov 1,1876-Sep 28,1934) and Josefa A Holas (Mar 15, 1878-Feb 5, 1912). Both were born in Bohemia and confirmed as the children of Jan and Josefa through Cook County Death records. If you create memorial pages for the rest of the Holas let me know and I'll post pictures to their memorial pages....Mary

St Adalbert Cemetery-Jaroslav Silha
Hi Jerry-I was checking the cemetery database today and have a question on Jaroslav Silha. I've entered edits on some of the other Silhas with their gravesite in St Procopius Section. There is a Jaroslav Silha also buried there but the cemetery shows the interment date as Aug 16, 1897. The age is not stated. The records at St Adalbert aren't always correct so they could have incorrectly listed it as 1897 when, in fact, it was 1894 as you have stated but given the date of interment I would assume it is your Jaroslav.

No website, I've gotten chummy with the head caretaker and secretary, so I will just check the plot.

Many more Silhas at that site, if you want them and I enjoy visiting the cemetery, quiet and good for unstressing.
