Boyce, are you sure the people you gave me are his parents? They are old enough to be his grandparents and the mother would have been 72 on the birth of her son.

J. E. Banks # 100491045
I copied the obit from the newspaper, and it didn't give the exact date, just said Wednesday, so was trying to kind of guess the exact date. I don't think I'm related to him, but had thought I might be. It's really funny, I have a John Henry Banks who died in 1923 in the Spartanburg area, and his death certificate says they don't know the mother either. I am wondering if mom died at childbirth and dad remarried, and no one talked of the bio mom after that. My John's father was James, b 1841.

Thanks so much for your time to take this photo...
I was hoping that there might also be a marker for his wife... I know her maiden name was Bennett...

At any rate I do appreciate your time and generous spirit...

It was no problem. I went to Oaklawn to find my aunt's marker today, and thought I would try to help someone else out. Have a Merry Christmas!

RE: Dr. Joseph Wofford
Thank you so much for the pictures! They look fine in the light that they were captured in! As far as I can Rev Benjamin Wofford did not have any kids but was married once or twice, I think once. He is my 4th great uncle and his brother, Dr. Joseph L. Wofford is my 4th great-grandfather.

I never knew anything about Wofford College until I started to research this part of my family tree. It amazed me so much to discover that Rev Benjamin Wofford earned so much money in his lifetime and to leave it all to the church to be turned into a school. That is so cool.

I've lived in Georgia a good majority of my life and have really only heard about Georgia colleges and universities. I attend Georgia State University in Atlanta. Thanks again for taking the pictures! :] I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Not Related at all
A friend of mine is a Lawton descendant. I'm not related at all. He's not computer literate so I stepped in. Together we visited Black Swamp Cemetery, and I took photos of all the Lawton headstones and posted them on findagrave. Let me know if you want others transferred to you.

Thanks so much for the photos of Frank Claridge's headstone. They are great and the church is beautiful. If I have my info correct, he's a 2nd great uncle.

I am pleased to transfer your uncle's grave to you. Family belongs with family and that's what I would want someone to do for me. I was very interested in the information you sent regarding your aunt and uncle. Genealogy is my hobby so I always enjoy hearing the stories behind the people. When I photograph graves I always wonder who they were so I was more curious about Thomas and Sara because they were brother and sister and shared a tombstone.

I got your edit but I can't find in the guidelines how to get someone's memorial changed to FAMOUS. I suppose I would have to delete and re-submit it as famous. I had my own photos but I deleted them when I saw yours were in. Why don't you try sending the links to find a grave and ask them to change it to FAMOUS and see what happens? If they don't change it, we'll work out a solution.

Thanks, Effie

Thank you
Thank you and your son for the wonderful photos I received on my GGG Grandfather Roberts and his families graves. They are the best photos I have ever received. I thank you for continuing to look for them when we thought we would never find Ossian...but you and your son did. I will forever be grateful to you both. God Bless. I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.

So glad your son has an interest both in photography and in grave/headstone preservation on Find A Grave. It's a great hobby. He may be the youngest "graver" among us. Enjoy this time together, it will be past all too quickly!
