Hi Walt...

James Royston
b. 1835

According to the inventory that was done in 2005, James might be here but there is no marker for his grave. Check out the attached website for Fauquier County. Hope this helps!

Sharon Cemetery Requests
I could not find any documentation supporting the burial placement of Hugh Thomas Smart or Joseph W. Davis. I note that they both served under Mosby's Command. Consequently, I took a leap of faith that they may both be buried in the Confederate Circle. There are numerous grave markers surrounding the monument. None list Smart or Davis, but several of the stones are unreadable. I did take pictures of the Confederate Circle memorial and will place them online on the Find A Grave site.

There is no office on-site at the cemetery to enable me to inquire further. Hope this helps.

James Simpson (1864) in Mt Hope
Regarding your photo request for James Simpson (1864) in Mt Hope Cemetery, Rochester, NY: Unfortunately, the internment records for the cemetery (http://www.lib.rochester.edu/IN/RBSCP/Databases/IMAGES/MtHope/disc1/00000703.pdf) list his burial location as "Vault". This is unfortunately a dead end, as it refers to what was apparently a temporary storage facility (e.g., that they used until the ground thawed enough in the spring to bury people).

If you want to try to figure out where he might be, I would recommend that you could do the following:

(1) Look at this online survey of surviving legible tombstones in the various sections of the cemetery for his name: http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/mh-intro.htm (focusing on the older sections).

(2) Look at the online internment records here http://www.lib.rochester.edu/index.cfm?PAGE=3310 to find where other Simpson's are buried. You can then look at online plot maps (http://nyrgs.org/cemeteryRecords/index1.htm and http://nyrgs.org/cemeteryRecords/index2.htm) for those lots and see if you can find him in one of them.

These are rather painstaking processes, but unfortunately I don't know of any other way to track him down in this very large municipal cemetery that contains some 300,000 burials.

There are several mausoleums (about 7) so if you can be a bit more specific, it would be most helpful. Thanks

Walt, I have the Richmond Democrat's account of Charlie Ford's suicide in 1884 and will send it to you if you'll email me at stoutimore@birch.net. I can't post it on Findagrave because his is a "famous person" memorial that won't allow posts.

Js. T. Ford was living at the time of Charlie's death because it mentions him in the article. His wife and Charlie's mother was Mary Ann (Bruin) Ford in Richmond Cemetery. She died in 1893, and her memorial says that her husband predeceased her. This means Js. T. Ford died between 1884 and 1893, but I didn't find his obit in the Richmond Democrat.

Photo requests
Walt- I notice that all of your recent requests are for Loudoun Rangers, and some are already known not to have grave markers, such as James Cole and "Web" Minor. I am used to fulfilling photo requests for family members. If you don't mind my asking, I'm curious as to what your interest is in these individuals.

Hi Walt:
Your Josiah is listed as Josiah P. Cayle in the Masonic Cemetery. Here's his number: 5006031
The person who created the memorial and posted the pic got his name wrong. Please close your request for a pic of the tombstone.
