Graveyard Name Change
Hi Pam. I may be doing this wrong but I'm not sure where I am to ask about a name change of a cemetery. I read the rules but couldn't figure out where to post the request. You seem so nice and interested in helping, so I'm coming direct to you.
There are two Gipe's Grove Cemeteries listed in Franklin Co., Pa. The one Gipe's Grove Cemetery listed "off Wayne Avenue" in Chambersburg, Pa. is correct. However the other one listed in Nyesville is incorrect. It has always been known as the Old Gipe Cemetery, Nyesville, Pa. (The cemetery is in the corner of the farm land owned by my Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather David B. Gipe Sr. He purchased the land around 1807 and according to his will, he and his wife and family lived there and then were buried in this cemetery. The Gipe's Grove Cemetery that is located at the address given is at the Gipes Grove Church. If you can help me to get this changed, I would appreciate it so much. You can respond to my email address if you like. lthousejo@earthlink.net (Joyce Gipe Osborne #47655487) Thank you so much.

I received a notice from Find A Grave that you put in a problem with my request: The Franklin County Historical Society has no record of this cemetery or this person's burial anywhere in Franklin County.

Here is where it is at:

Franklin Cemetery ....located at 203 Rocky Grove Ave (Rt 417) beside the Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church. (814) 432-4118

Amy & Jessie Devor
Thanks for your effort to locate and photograph the headstones for Jessie & Amy Devor. I am not suprised there are many stones that can't be read.

All my info shows they are burried here. Please consider these requests canceled.

I want to thank you for your effort.

Sincerely,
Don Harrison

Sarah, Jane, Mary WIDNEY
Pam, Can I also ask another favor should you get back to Concord Union cemetery. The grave stones for the 3 unmarried WIDNEY daughters (Jane, Sarah, Mary) are side-by-side. Would it be possible to get a wide angle shot of all 3 graves together? (I was at that cemetery back in the 80's, but didn't have all the information I needed to get the shots I wanted). Thank you so much and Happy New Year. Dan Carrier, Dallas, TX

Sarah Widney #108903034
Pam, Since it is so difficult to see the writing on the gravestone, would it be possible to get the larger JPEG file for Sarah WIDNEY #108903034. It can be sent to dantcarrier@yahoo.com. Thank you for your effort to locate & photograph this memorial for me.

Thanks for her stone photo. I see her middle initial is a J. not L. so the name might be Jane like mother's.

I can't thank you enough Pam for going the extra mile for me. I think you and I will agree there was little chance that Raymond ever had a headstone given the paupers status of his burial. But now, thanks to your help we know for sure. Your kindness and deep compassion is greatly appreciated.
