Hi, The picture with all the names you posted on memorial # 24879069 is very informative. Is it a marker at the cemetery, where did you find it? I just entered many in the same cemetery and was wondering if there are more names not shone. Thanks for your help.

Also try MacCluskey. Newspapers aren't famous for getting the spellings of names correct

Let me know if you find anything. I'll cross my genealogical fingers for you.
Fulton is the BEST site for NYS history. And it's all free, thanks to Angel Tom

|Susan||RE: Ross C McCluskey|
You might try fultonhistory.com for more info. It has about 1,000,000 old NY newspaper pages posted online (all for free). If you haven't tried it, go to fulton (main page says "fulton postcards"), click on enter. That brings up the search engine on the left of the screen. I always set the search engine (via dropdown) to "Boolean" and use the ancient (pre-google) way of searching, since it seems to work better. Try entering
Ross w/1 mccluskey
in the search window and see what comes up. It's not that usual a name, so hopefully you'll get less than 5000 hits (the max on fulton). You could also search for his parents, siblings, wife under her maiden name, etc, and see what you find.
If you use Boolean search, you can also search just by certain newspaper titles. Since he's buried in Dutchess, he probably lived there or near there, so try
Poughkeepsie ny daily eagle and ross w/1 mcclusky
Millbrook ny round table and ross w/1 mcclusky
Pawling ny Patterson news chronicale and ross w/1 mcclusky
Carmel ny Putnam country courier and ross w/1 mcclusky
You have to include the mis-spellings of "chronicle" and "county" in the search, or it won't work. Tom, the guy who runs fulton all on his own, is a genealogical angel, but can't spell worth beans.
Capitalization doesn't count, but form and spelling do.
You need adobe reader and adobe flash to use the site. Both are downloadable for free from adobe.com. The pages are pdf's. Some of the bigger ones can take a while to load. The pages can also be slow if there's a lot of traffic on the site. Like today, when it's snowing like a bandit and everyone is bored.
Once you've downloaded them, you can save the pages to your computer.
The above searches only work with a Boolean search.
