Donna Kemp & Teri Libell
RE: Kemps
Both of the women who compiled the information for the Kemp book are deceased. My husbands parents are Charles Kenneth Kemp and Helen Irene McGinnis Kemp. They are buried at the Peasant Valley Cemetery in Kenney, Dewitt Co., IL. Several other Kemps are also buried at that cemetery. His line goes back to Henry B. and Dinah Kemp who both died somewhere in TN. Two generations down is Murphy Kemp. He was married three times and had 12 children. His wives were Ann Baird, Mary Emma "Polly" Howell and Mariah Jane Leib. Murphy and Mariah and several if his children were buried at Wheeler Cemetery. Some Kemps are also buried at Baptist Cemetery in DeWitt Co., IL.

I have not worked on any genealogy for several years. I am no longer in good health and my memory is very poor.

Kemps
The geneology society would be a good place to check out. They have cemetery books in Macon County and several other surrounding counties. They also have land record books. They also have a Kemp book that was written by my mother in law and a cousin. Most of my records started with her research.

Re: Joseph Howard
Thank you very much for trying to find the headstone. This is one of the great values of this site: Preservation of burial sites. Time, weather, and vandalism are taking a great toll in our cemeteries. The Find A Grave volunteers working together are doing a terrific job of preserving these records for others to see. Thanks for being a volunteer.

Richard Moore, Maple Grove Cemetery
Many thanks for the photo of Richard Moore's headstone. Too bad about the decorations covering the names and dates. If you are ever in that same area and can photograph the headstone without all the decorations in the way, it would be useful. I'm grateful for your help.

Hello. Thank you so much for fulfilling my photo request for Jane Henderson Gorman!! How wonderful that there is a stone for a family member from so long ago. May I please have your permission to include your pictures in my family records? Credit for the source would be included, and copies would be for personal use, not for publication or posting elsewhere on the internet. Thank you very much!

I deleted my memorial for Elizabeth and attached this memorial to Abram Shaver Wintermute. I find it is trange that Wintermute was her second husband but she is buried with her first husband, Richard Lanning. Are you a Wintermute relative? If so how?

Many thanks for your headstone photography. I know what's involved in traveling to the cemetery, finding the plots, sometimes cleaning the headstones, taking the pictures, and uploading them; all for a perfect stranger. I really appreciate your efforts.
Thanks and best regards, Karl Hamlin

RE: john chipps
It does sound like we are talking about different John Chips, I also am anxious to see what you have and to share what i have.

This is a line I've worked on for over 40 years. I have papers from a cousine of my gr aunt Lucy Chips showing what she had in the 1930's as she hired a geneologist to work on what can do so easily on the computer. I made one trip to Morris Town looking for our ancestrial John and Jannettje Chips and our Revolutionary forfathers, I had no good results doing that. The same names have been used over and over. I wouldn't be surprised if each of the kids of John and Jane didn't have a John Chips and maybe each of theirs, if we found all of the names. If you have documented records I'm sure you are putting you line in good order.

If you take the time to look in Foster Cemetery, Harrison Co. Missouri, you will find the same names there, that other Chips/Chipps siblings used. (look under both spellings) My grandfather is one spelling his wife another, brothers etc have used both. Maybe for mail/tax purposes since they lived close and had the same names?

Hi, Charlotte!
I hope you've been well through this rotten winter.
I wanted to check if you'd gotten a chance to find your great uncle Dan Chipps' diary with his travels with Mr. Shur? This is so interesting!
Thank you so much for your consideration to contact me!!!

RE: john chipps
Good morning Charlotte,

I have asked that the information I supplied be taken off since there may be misinformation.

I certainly would never intend to put anything out that isn't fact. If I mixed up my John Chipps please accept my appologies and let's get them corrected.

There are many John Chipps/Chips in our family. I beleive the information for this entry came from a visit to the Cemetary years ago.

John Chipps b Nov 13, 1815 - Sept 1896
married to Julia

We also have John Chipps son of Morris Sr. and Sarah Denton Ross and Joseph K son of Morris Sr. and Sarah Denton Ross.

John Chipps Jr. son of John Chipps Sr. and Jannettje of New Jersey

John Chipps b 1827 m. to Elizabeth Farr, son of Morris Chipps and Margarette (Joseph Kelsey b. 1841 also son of Morris and margarette Chipps)

I have several documents that I would gladly share in hopes of building and documenting this family. If you send me your e-mail address I will glady share what I have. It's been several years since I've worked on this line and would welcome a new set of eyes. :) Thank you for catching any errors out there.
