Do you have any idea why Mr. Murphy is buried in Florida if he died in California?

Rushie May
Thank you for the interesting information about your father and Rushie May. That’s quite a coincidence (or perhaps not, since it seems everyone in the local community was related one way or the other – and maybe even in more than one way!). My friend John is helping me research these families – he is going to email you about this. I sure appreciate you documenting so many burials at Enon Baptist Cemetery. Does your family up in Clay County ever have a reunion? Thanks again - Pete

RE: Enon Baptist Church Cemetery
Thanks for your reply. I am researching the family of Frank INGRAM, Sr. (1908-1980), who married H. B. JOHNSON. His obituary says he was the son of Mrs. Eula & Mr. Cornelias INGRAM and was survived by a sister, Mrs. Ollie Bell GAINES. I found Ollie Belle on various censuses as GAIN, GOINS, and GOINGS. In 1930, her mother Eula GAMBOLS is in her household. I found a death certificate for Eula – she was the daughter of Peter & Ann ENGRAM. I think Eula is probably the sister of Harriet INGRAM, who died 16 FEB 1920 – her death certificate says she is the daughter of Pete INGRAM.

On the 1900 census, Eula GAMBAL is in the household of her brother Charles INGRAM and his wife Lilla (she was a WILLIAMS – they married 07 JUN 1899 in Clay County). The census reports that Eula is divorced – I don’t know who her GAMBLE / GAMBOLS husband was (perhaps he was Cornelius). Besides daughter Ollie B. GAMBAL (born Dec. 1888), Eula has with her sons Charlie GAMBAL (born Sept. 1891) and Otha GAMBAL (born Jul. 1895) - I am trying to figure out if he is the same as Otha INGRAM (04 JUL 1891-29 OCT 1957) buried at Enon Baptist. I believe Eula heads a household on the 1910 census as Missie INGRAM, with additional children, but not certain of this. Charles appears to be nearby then with a second wife named Carrie.

Ollie Belle GAMBOLS married Thomas “Tom” PRICE. They had a daughter named Rushie May PRICE who had a daughter named Eva May PRICE (01 JAN 1928 – 07 FEB 1998). This family appears on the 1930 census. In 1940, apparently Tom had died and Rushie May had married a HARDGE, as she appears as Rushie Mae HARDGE with daughter Eva Mae PRICE in the household of her widowed mother, Ollie B. GOINS. However, no HARDGE/HODGE husband is present – don’t know who he was or what happened to him.

Do you happen to know of any of these people? Any idea what HARDGE Rushie May may have married? Thanks - Pete

Enon Baptist Church Cemetery
Hi - I see that you have posted a lot of memorials for Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Clay County, Georgia (thank you for doing that!), and also that there are a number of HARDGE / HODGE individuals buried there. I wondered if you have a family connection to any of the folks there? I have found a HARDGE connection to a family I am researching. Thanks! - Pete

Hello C Hodge...I have your request and we are always more than happy to help out our American Legion Lodges (my Richard, who still makes every trip to take photos w/me served in Korea). I have been in hospital and about a week or so away from being able to go to the cem (which we live close to) and get Ben's headstone photo so let the gang at Post 220 know the transfer will be on its way to you - I think we can get the pic by next week. It's great work you do and all vets deserve the best memorials we can provide...Roberta

RE: Albert C Scartz - 104299887
Dear C Hodge,

Back several years ago Find-A-Grave instituted an 'automated edit/correction' system, whereby a Contributor can automatically suggest edit/corrections for several specific categories: Name, Relationships, Dates & Places, and Cemetery Plot info, whereby the suggesting Contributor clicks on the Edit tab of the memorial and a list of these and other links are presented.

In this case I clicked on the Relationship link and that causes the Find A Grave computer to present a preformatted form for the specific data to be suggested, in this case fields for Find A Grave memorial numbers for Albert's father and mother [and below those spaces for spouse(s)]. I filled in the memorial number for Albert's Father and as I tab to the next field for his Mother's memorial number, the Find A Grave computer automatically runs the father's memorial number and presents the name associated with that number beside the field, so you can be sure you entered the correct memorial number. I then entered his mother's memorial number in the Mother field and tabbed again, and her name appears beside her number. Once both were reviewed by me, I clicked on the Submit button at the bottom of the form and the suggestions are sent to your own Contributor Page Edit tab, found in the upper right corner of your own Contributor page.

Once your Edit list appears, you need to make sure you are reviewing the 'Pending (Incoming) Edits' list from the drop-down list choices. There you should find a 4 column list of waiting edits from other FAGers/Contributors.

The left column has the Name of the memorial involved, the suggesting Contributor and the date of the suggested edit/correction.

The second column shows the names of the field(s) involved and the current data displayed in them.

The thrid column shows the suggested change(s). In this case you would see inividually Albert's father name and below that, the name of his mother, as they appear in their own memorial pages. Note that any of the Blue data strings are 'hot-links' to the respective memorials.

The last column is a drop-down windowed menu with 3 action choices:

ACCEPT - the appropriate choice if you agree that the suggested data is correct or is logically acceptable should you not know specifically.

IGNORE - allows you to leave the particular pending edit to remain in your list while you research the suggested data should you have questions about its validity.

DECLINE - allows you to refuse that particular suggsted data, should you know it is in error. There is also a space available for you to write any specific message as to why you are Declining the suggested data. This should be done out of common courtesy and it may just spur the other Contributor to do more research and help in some other way to enhance the memorial in question.

Under normal circumstances, when I receive 'auto e/cs' I compare the current data to the suggested data and decide on the spot usually to Accept the suggested data. Keep in mind that all these 'auto e/cs' are coming from other Find A Grave Contributors and we (you, I and all the rest of us) wouldn't suggest erroneous data just to be doing something. As you know by the time one suggests some edit/correction, a considerable amount of time and energy has been dedicated to seeking the correct data.

Rarely does one Decline data, unless you know the suggested data is in error. That being said there are a few unusual circumstances when an edit/correction may be Declined even if the data is correct.

Case in point: Having learned of the passing of the actor Gary Owens of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In fame, I visited his memorial and noticed from data in his Bio obit, data that led me to seek his parents and siblings. In my research I found them and his middle initial. I submitted both my 'auto e/cs' to add his middle initial to his Name, and Link him to his parents. As the memorial is managed by Find A Grave, they accepted my 'auto e/c' to Link him to his parents, but Declined my 'auto e/c' to add his middle initial. They didn't state a specific reason, but I presume it was because he is known most popularly by just his 'show biz' first and last name, which is understandable.

Whew. All that being said, you should find my suggested 'auto e/c' to Link Albert to his parents in your Pending Edits list as they are still in my list of suggested pending edits.

Just FYI: Find A Grave never announced the 'Auto E/C' system. It just appeared in the fall several years ago, and it was left up to the family of Contributors to get the word out as the need arose. I learned about it just as your are now from another Find A Grave Contributor. :-)

Should you have a problem, please don't hesitate to contact me again, and if worse comes worse I'll just send you Albert's parents memorial numbers.

Thank you for all your Find A Grave efforts.

Always, in Find A Grave brother/sisterhood,

RE: Cobb transfer complete
Sorry headstone was not yet in place so I could provide photo before I transferred but you will be able to request it later and I know you want to get his bio entered. He was a lucky man to have such devoted friends.

Hi there, you are correct. I walked around the area with one of the girls from the cemetery office and confirmed that there is no permanent headstone as of yet. The picture that I took is of the plot where Mr. Burrows is.

RE: Richard Rattray
I went over to Forest Lawn Cemetery North yesterday (Sunday), and gave them a list of 7 grave sites I wanted to locate. I told them I'd follow up on Monday. They seemed like they were going to be very helpful, but when I called them back today I was told they are not allowed to give me that information without the permission of the family. So... if you want to call them and find out the location of the grave site, (the sections have names like "Palm Garden No 2," "Garden of Eternity," "Hibiscus Garden," etc), I will try and get back there and find the headstone and take a photo. Their phone number is 954-784-4000 Try and get me as information as you can to try and determine the location. Regards, Tom.
