RE: Owings
Sounds like I should thank you for the fact that so many of the Cockeys and Owingses in St. Thomas already have a gravestone photo. Thank you. I went thru those names in St. Thomas since you asked, and I requested a photo for any that didn't have one. In at least one case, there probably is none and a notation could be added in Find A Grave. Have a wonderful time, though that sounds odd when talking about a cemetery.

RE: Owings
Hi, Sharon. I'm not quite sure what you are asking, but I'm guessing that you are talking about some photo requests I made some time back. I have not personally visited any graveyard on the East Coast as I live in California. I notice that there are tons of Owings and Cockey family members at St. Thomas. The ones who are in my family tree that I spot-checked on FindaGrave do not have any associated photos. If you are thinking of heading that way, camera in hand, would it help for me to identify the ones without a photo and add them to my list? The alternative would be to photograph every Owings or Cockey you come upon, then figure out which are useful to contribute. I'm so proud of you for being a FindaGrave volunteer. The website has been an invaluable resource for me.

WE WERE ABLE TO LOCATE AND PHOTO 10 SITES TODAY. JIM GODFREY IS GOING THIS WEEKEND TO SEE HOW MANY HE CAN GET. FEEL FREE TO TRY AND LOCATE ANY OF THE REST. WE WHERE CHASED OFF BY THE SPRINKLERS ON A COUPLE AND THERE WERE THREE WE THINK ARE UNMARKED. THEY PROBABLY DESERVE ONE MORE SET OF EYES LOOKING FOR THEM.

YOU CLAIMED THIS PHOTO. THE CEMETERY SAYS THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF HER. YOU MIGHT WANT TO DOUBLE CHECK WITH THEM AND IF SHE IS NOT THERE, CLOSE THE OPEN REQUEST. I AM GOING TO THE CEMETERY ON THURSDAY AND GET AS MANY OF THE OPEN REQUESTS THAT WE CAN LOCATE.

I'm sorry Sharon. The only information I have is the listing on F.A.G. showing she is buried in the Mountain Meadows Memorial Park and Crematory and her husband was David (1920-2006). Thanks for you help.

RE: Mattson
Yes, Sharon. Funny, my grandfather's middle name was Johnston. He was Huston Johnston Mattson. Also, he married Jennie M. Peterson (my grandmother), who was also from Cecil county, Maryland. Are you connected?

Sharon,
I was last there in 2008 when I took the pictures. One of the members of the church saw me photographing the markers. In our conversation, she told me the church was closing. This was the contact information on the church at that time, but unsure if that is still available: Lane Tracey, 410-771-4140 or 410-472-4100. I have no records other than those I took the pictures of and posted on the site. Only other suggestion would be the Baltimore County Historical Society. They may have records. Good luck!

RE: Druid Ridge
Sony , I never got back to you . I been caught up with life on the outside of the net. I definitely need pictures but I don't have a clue where they are buried. They are in a Gassaway family plot it should be William Griggs Gassaway , Dorsey Gassaway & Mary L. Or Mary Dorsey Gassaway . Dorsey Gassaway born in the year 1940 & died in 1969 . He was my uncle . His was a very sad life, he suffered from depression & took his own life not to long after his mother past away . I think he got the Idea from another relative that affixed her self & was found dead in her car by two hunters a few days later in the local hunting ground ,just off johnny cake rd. Ellicott city Md. I find it is more interesting to know a bit about the people your looking form Dorsey's Father William Griggs Gassaway was an attorney , graduated from Georgetown University school of Law / was elected to Maryland house of Delegates 1932-1937 representing Howard county Md. he died in 1950 something from a hart attack m Dorsey was 12 years old & my father John D. Gassaway was 18 years old when they lost their father. I will try to find you some more info if you need it ? sincerely yours, John m. Gassaway ~Carter

RE: John (David) Mattson of Maryland
Sherry,
I am not sure of this particular Mattson. My Mattson's married into the Peterson's of Cecil Co, MD (Tobias Peterson is where it started), but my Mattson's were from Chester Co, PA. I am not able to find your John David Mattson, but, I am now going to try. I do genealogy all day long, on and off, so this gives me a break from my search, which can be frustrating (pass the aspirin). Do you know where in Maryland? I will do what I can to find them and keep you posted. I have had some trouble here, of late, so my email is deactivated on here, but I can send it to you privately to keep in touch. Wish me luck! :)

Sharon,
There are several different theories on that subject. One, she was married to all three men at different times. The other she was not and that CRUMP was her only husband. I do not know which one is correct as you will see all online. Some have her married to LAMB as her last husband. Thanks for your note; would love to see anything you've found.

Hello Sherry,
I probably confused you with my 1st note. I went back and looked and realized Joseph Belt's father John Belt, was, according to many researchers, married to Elizabeth Tydings, d/o Richard. However, there is controversy as to whether that is correct. Some say she was married to a CRUMP. Quite poss. she was married to a CRUMP, a LAMB, and a BELT, with LAMB being the last husband. I do not know the correct info but, at this time, have left it as BELT. Sorry I'm not more help; good luck on your hunt.

Richard Tydings
Hello Sherry,
I really know very little other than what I have on his page in my ancestry tree. I'll look and see what I have that would be of interest to you. I know my connection to him is thru my LYLES line from Maryland which I believe is connected to the Ninian BEAL line and thence to TYDINGS. There are those who believe it is not but I do. My maternal gggg-grands were Zachariah LYLES and Margery (Belt) LYLES. Some researchers have Margery BELT'S mother as Margery BEAL / BEALE (pron. Bell) and some have Margery WIGHT. I myself believe she was Margery BEAL.

I'm not sure what you are asking me? Could you please go to the memorial and send me a question from there, please. So I can look at what ever I have entered on it. I typed in Richard Tydings and nothing came up. Its SO much quicker for me if you use the edit tab on the memorial page.

Thank you,
SLW
