Faircloth's in Levy County
The Search for yesterday a history of levy county comes in a series of small booklets. I believe you can order them from levy county historical society, or sometimes they show up on Amazon. I know a lot of people of ancestry.com have the books. I found some in the message boards and asked them for information on some of my ancestors. I know Florida Gen.web has the names of the people recorded, chapters, and pages, but no information. I wrote down the info and found someone on Ancestry.com who had the books to look it up for me. I have saved a copy of chapter 20 on Thomas Jefferson Faircloth's family. You should be able to find it easily if you have a Ancestry account. ~Beverly

RE: William Bartow (Bart) Faircloth
William Bartow Faircloth's Father was William Andrew Faircloth, and His father was Thomas Jefferson Faircloth. My Great Grandfather was Levi E Faircloth and his Father was Thomas Jefferson Faircloth.Chapter 20 of A Search for Yesterday a history of Levy county has an entire section about Thomas Jefferson Faircloth's family. I have it in my Ancestry.com family tree. I will find the larger copy I have of Thomas Faircloth's jail confession and scan it on Monday to email to you. ~Beverly

William Bartow (Bart) Faircloth
We are from the same family line of Thomas Jefferson Faircloth. My Grandfather was Levi E Faircltoh. He had a son Thomas G Faircloth who was the last hanged man (by court order) in Florida. In his confession he mentions your Grandfather. He wrote his confession to him, his favorite cousin. It is very interesting part of Levy County Florida history. If you are interested in this information, Let me know. Beverly

WOW! That is amazing. I had wondered about where her husband might be. Glad you were able to find him and share his story. That's the kind of stuff that makes grave hunting exciting.

Glad I could help. Let me know how your visit here turns out.

RE: Katherine Jordan
Hey Carah,

I went by the cemetery on my way in to the office this morning. As I said earlier, if you enter the North gate and then go around the fist curve to the left, start looking on the left hand side for a headstone with "Horne" on it. Catherine Jordan is a little further off the road to the East that stone. You'll see her headstone with the cross on it in the middle of a group of three stones. The graves on either side of her don't appear to be related to her but I don't know.

As an FYI, just to the South of there are two rows of headstones said to be confederate soldiers who died in the Battle of Marianna. There is a memorial stone for them close to the road.

Hope that helps.

RE: Katherine Jordan
That helps a lot. Entering in the North gate the grave is on the left side of the lane a quarter or maybe a third of the way into the cemetery. I will go back in the next day or so and find a some good landmarks and get back with you.

RE: Katherine Jordan
Hey Carah,

You are welcome. Are you familiar with Marianna or the cemetery at all? Also, which direction will you be coming into town from?

Let me know.

Many thanks for the Windham tombstone picture. This has been the missing link to this side of the family. The tombstone picture makes it complete. Many many thanks.

Lipford photos at New Salem
Thanks for the photos you took of the Lipford stones at New Salem. They are just what the doctor ordered! It's amazing how fast some of those stones erode. Have a great day!
