What is her Find A Grave number? What cemetery is she in?
I could help you if I had this information.

I have entered over 10,000 memorials.

RE: Mathias C. Adams
Hello Robert,

I just happen to work in the area so I'm not related to Mathias C. Adams. More than likely hes buried in the "Garden Of Devotion" but I did cover some other areas. If you call and ask them if they have a record they can probably give you a plot and row # and what area. From that you can do a request to get a picture. I know theres at least 2 of us in the area that handle that site.

Peace

RE: Josephine Adams
I know the first three are correct. The picture was made around 1900 because my grandmother, Mary Catherine, would have been about 9. A.F. and Josephine had 5 sons: Clayton b. 1872, Colon b. ~ 1878, Thaddeus b. ~ 1879, Judson b. ~ 1886 and Lon b. ~ 1888. So it would have to be Colon or Thaddeus. That picture was in my grandmothers house and I seem to recall her telling me his name was Colon. A.F. and Josephine had 3 daughters: Flora b. ~ 1882, Eliza Leila b. ~ 1884 and Mary Catherine b. 1891. So the young lady (far right) is either Flora or Leila.

"That's interesting about the pension application - I will look to see if I can find anything about it." I scanned these documents and saved them on my computer. Send me your email address to gamcd@verizon.net (mine, of course) and I'll send them to you.

I knew Smith McDaniel real well. I was at the U. of Ga. with his daughter, Virginia, and got a ride back to Glenwood with them on a couple of occasions. Lewis Sherman and my great granddaddy, John James McDaniel, were brothers.

Josephine Adams
Robert, you certainty have my permission to use the photo you mention. Just keep me posted and let me know when the book is published; I'm sure I will like to read it.

btw I got Josephine's application for a Civil War veteran's pension from the State of Georgia Archives department in 1975. It shows we were even bureaucratic back then. The documents (copies from the GA Archives) does not tell whether she got any pension or not. In 1975 I visited my double 2nd cousin, MS. Willie Clark Gillis and brought up her Grandmother's (Josephine) pension application and asked did she know if she got the pension. Willie who was a daughter of the female, Bertha Clark McDaniel, in the extreme right of the photo and the oldest daughter (I believe) of Josephine and Ambrose) told me she did. Josephine and Ambrose Clark were my great grandparents. Their daughter, Mary Catherine Clark (standing by her daddy) was my Grandmother b. 1893 d. 1974.

Willie Clark Gillis was the daughter of Clayton Clark who was the oldest child of Ambrose and Josephine. Clayton and Mary Catherine were brothers and sisters. Thus, Clayton married his sister's husband's daughter, Bertha McDaniel. Hence double cousins.

Thank you for posting this memorial page. Myrtis was my great-great-aunt. Do you happen to remember if anyone else is buried in the cemetery plot with Myrtis? I have been trying to locate the grave of her sister, Florence Johnston Jackson.
Thank you, Robert

Robert,

I have no further info on this lady. I created her memorial based on her obituary. The cemetery is in Georgia and I live in Texas. I wish I could be of more help. Do you know when she was born? Thanks.
Take care,
Grave Whisperer
