I went out to see if William had a military headstone. Along with the monument for William and Demaris there is a headstone for Gertrude. There is no military headstone on this lot.

|ladycatherine||Henry Swint, 114058295|
Hello, Warren! Do you know where in NY your Swints started? I am wondering if your Swints and my husband's are related. His stayed in NY but the family thinks some went south and they definitely think some went west, but not sure who nor when.
In the meanwhile, do you think this could be your Henry Swint?
This is death information from FamilySearch for Henry Swint; a church record as indicated by the fact that the names are in Latin. The year of birth is a bit off but I think that this is your Henry.

Do you know where the Swints or (Henry) landed when they first came to U.S. I think it was around 1845.

You're welcome. came across them by accident and I know you work on this line. I have no idea what the wife's maiden name is, but you might be able to find it on the computer at vital statistics downtown. You can look at marriage and divorce listings and do "view only" of death certificates (that have parents' names) there for free. donna

|CathiBulone Campbell||RE: William Devereaux's wife|
Will's parents, John and Bridget, plus siblings Robert, Mary, and Michael, who never married, are all buried in Old St. Mary's Cemetery, on three-mile hill east of Port Sanilac MI. Ida leins, Will's wife, was the daughter of a local butcher. There was also a brother, James, and a sister, Margaret Devereaux LaVigne. The lighthouse lady knew everybody. Will was home with the family in Sanilac Township as a preteen in 1880. Just discovered your message. Wish Find a Grave would send us an e-mail when someone leaves a message.

I am so very grateful to be able to fill in the background of my grandfather from the information you have provided. His past was never discussed and he passed away from emphysema when I was 3. I knew his past wasn't pretty and I am sad for those he walked away from.
