Snow has melted. I photographed the gravestone, and now you can read the dates of birth. I added the headstone image to the side.

You're quite welcome. FYI Annie's husband George was next to her and I added a photo of his marker to his memorial.

RE: Thank you so much!
You are welcome. I also took a photo of the adjacent marker for Charlotte Rostad Gulbransen "Mother" Sept 1, 1866 - Nov 9, 1945. If you would like that photo please let me know.

Carol Ann

I just checked the photo and it was there.
I noticed this on other memorials. I think it may be a temporary glitch, keep trying.

RE: Petersens' in Salt Lake City Cemetery
I recently sent a couple photos to your hotmail account and have discovered that in my correspondence I misspelled Pedersen as Pederson. Of more interest though, is that I cannot upload these photos to this site because the correct memorial for Peder and Anna G. has not yet been created. Your current photo request has been made through another Peder (and Anna C.), the dates do not match. I hope this has fulfilled your request.

Petersons' in SLC Cemetery
I don't know a lot about the cemetery workings, just enough to take an occasional photo of a specified plot when I can find the time. This is their web site info:

Petersons' in Salt Lake City Cemetery
Below is a couple resources to narrow the possibilities for locating the correct Pedersons or Petersons. There are over 50,000 interments at at Salt Lake City Cemetery, and a plot number will help expedite your request.

Hi, The Louise Lofgren in Lakeview Cemetery is actually Ida Louise Lofgren 1867-1943 and always lived in Jamestown after coming from Sweden. Hope this helps, Ann

Dear Carol Ann,

Thank you for your message. I did take a close-up of the marker for Elizabeth so you can see the dates on it and it is posted on her site.

All the best in your continued search!

Photo Request
Hello Carol Ann,

The website did allow me to add the photo I took, but there is a discrepancy; the marker shows date of birth as 1860, but the website shows it as 1861. As I said, I'm a new volunteer, but I believe that other volunteers add the information to the "Find A Grave" website, so perhaps they made an error when adding her information if her date of birth is really 1860, as the headstone shows. Hopefully you have other resources so you can confirm the date and have it correctly reflected on her virtual grave?

Della Gorst

(You may note I signed my last email as 'Padnick' but I am trying to use my maiden name here so I can be more easily found by remaining family members.)

RE: Your Request Re; Versteeg
Dear Carol Ann,

I didn't get a chance to reply to you before you sent another photographer to check on this request. The cemetery wouldn't remove a headstone, but to quote Metro, the organization who currently oversees the cemetery, "Decay, neglect and poor record keeping in the early years have led to an estimated 10,000 unknown graves." The volunteer organization that works to restore the cemetery, "Friends of Lone Fir" also blames vandalism over the years for the current condition of Lone Fir. As I mentioned to you, I was able to locate the plot of John Versteeg, but no headstone. I did photograph Elizabeth Versteeg's headstone in detail. I will try to add this to her online memorial, since the photographer you sent after me added a photo, but it does not show any detail. I'm sorry there was not a gravestone/memorial to photograph for you for John, and for any misunderstanding regarding why that is so.

All the best,
Della Padnick

Versteeg photo request
There is no evidence that any headstone has been removed for any reason. Perhaps Jan died before he could make arrangements for one for Elizabeth; who would have purchased one for him? Same with John d. 1933.

"Unmarked" is not the same as "unidentified." Metro has records for thousands more burials than the cemetery has headstones. Not everyone gets a monument.

John Versteeg
John d. 1933 is buried in Grave 3S, same as Elizabeth d. 1940. There is no inscription for him on her marker and I didn't find a temporary cemetery locator for him. I posted a photo of the south 1/2 of Lot 63 - 3 graves, 4 Versteegs.

Jan d. 1915 is buried in Grave 2S, next to Elizabeth. I uncovered his temporary cemetery locator and posted the photo.

Elizabeth d. 1915 is buried in Grave 1S, the south edge of Lot 63. No headstone, no temporary marker. I posted a photo of the Versteeg area.

RE: Your Request Re; Versteeg
Well, that is what it seems like since there is an empty plot right next to Elizabeth where John would be, but there is no sign of a headstone or marker. There are about 10,000 unidentified graves at Lone Fir based on information I have read online.

I can post the picture of his plot if you would like? It is the area where he rests, just without a headstone.

Your Request Re; Versteeg
Hello Carol,

I tried to fulfill your request for a photo of the grave of John Versteeg, 1869-1933 at Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery (Sec 37, Lot 63, 3S) but I do believe the headstone has been removed. I was able to take a photo of the headstone right next to where John is buried; it is for Elizabeth Versteeg, 1860 - 1940. That is all it says on the marker. If you would like I can upload the photo of John's plot, but as I said, there is no marker.

Hi Carol, I filled your photo request for Fred Foster, in Henefer Cemetery, Utah. I do have additional pictures that I'd be happy to share if you want (e.g., different views). There is nothing on the back of the headstone.
